Hello Friends. Welcome to DAY ONE of the 12th coloring challenge, “The Daily Marker 30 Day Coloring Challenge” OMG I can’t believe it’s DAY ONE!!! YIPEEE!! I am so excited you are here and that so many of you are taking the challenge again! Thank YOU and thank you all for your comments, enthusiasm and for taking the challenge!!!! If you are new this go around or have been watching from the side lines and decided to jump in I am so proud of you for taking some “me” time. My mantra has always been to find just 10 minutes a day to color and watch the stress of the day melt away.

For Day 1. I like to try and do something special for ya all but, I have been on the run and am continuing to run hahaha.
My hashtag drawing was illustrated on the airplane and painted at home with some opaque watercolors as a reminder to use the hashtag #thedailymarker30day when posting your art.
Since this is the first day I want to make mention of something that I think is very important … our posture! When coloring take pause and think if you can lift your gaze and straighten you back. Using a clip board helps you prop up your project so you aren’t bending over (you can prop the clip board on a stack of books). I take a clip board on the plane with me and it saves my neck in a good way! If you want something for your desk I found this on eBay many years ago & it’s a good size. Coloring at night on the sofa with my hubby I find a clip board really useful.
Since so many of you have taken the challenge before I encourage you to stretch yourself and create some art with your coloring. Draw something, doodle or use a beautiful background stamp, a coloring book page or stamp a bunch of flowers to create a background like I did in this post. Even if it’s takes a week you will be happy to see your art come together before your eyes. A trip to the store for some inexpensive frames gives your work even more importance. Adding art like this would be great on a collage wall for everyone to see your beautiful work.

Hooray for another 30 day challenge! Yes, posture! I unfortunately tend to ‘turtle’ as I work and decades of that are showing in a permanent crook in my neck. Another reason to straighten up!! : ) After all these years of loving your eyelash technique, I have yet to use it… guess I really need to get out of my rut!! : )

It stays great to see your colouring. I am using a clip board with a towl underneath, I fold it or roll it, deppending how high I want it, works great for me. And I can use that everywhere. Most of the time I using it when I colour with my pencils, that is always time consuming and hard to stop when having fun so you often do not pay attention to your posture. With a clip board you do.

Wow Kathy I can’t believe it’s number 12 just seems like yesterday you had the first one. You’ve come along way and I’m glad I have been able to enjoy each one so far. Hopefully this year I will be home to participate more than the past year.

Kathy I’m so glad you’ve got a gap in your busy busy life for another 30 day challenge. I haven’t been brave enough yet to post anything but have joined in at home with the last two before this one. I’ve even got my sons wonderfully talented girlfriend to have a look in this time to see if you can tempt her this time or next. Thank you Kathy & all the ambassadors. Slightly off topic but still craft have you seen the very much need Turner Syndrome hop that’s using cardmakimgs to spread information about this condition that effects so many women ?

I have finally “bit the bullet” on starting an art journal. I have been watching, learning and pinning ideas for 2 years and have decided to start by doing a ’30 Day Coloring Challenge art journal’! Heaven only knows how long it will take me to do the first page but I am working on it a little each day. Some days/pages may only be images that I am trying new (‘to me’) painting or colouring techniques but it will be dedicated to the 30 Day coloring challenge until its full. Looking forward to what I am planning to try tomorrow.

I am so excited the coloring challenge is back! As you know, I love to color! Tonight I made a card for my uncle’s birthday. Tomorrow I mail it along with a card for a card swap on Kit & Clowder. I love your colorful hashtag with The Daily Marker.
Sorry about The AOL ad. Something weird happened when I tried to post what I colored & that AOL ad posted instead. I’ll see if I can fix it. You used something different this time & I guess it’s not working for me. Dang it! LOL
As for the clip board, unless I am coloring in a coloring book, a clip board is what I always use. I love a clip board & I got mine at Dollar General. My old one broke & this new one wasn’t very expensive. I’m saving my neck!

Intersting about posture. I am very nearsighted and often take my glasses off to color and lean in very close. Terrible for the posture, but I can see the details better. Are there prizes for the coloring challenge or is it just for the fun of coloring?
