Day 15. Hero Arts Blog Hop

Hello Friends, Welcome to Day 15 if you are following The Daily Marker 30 Day Coloring Challenge. If you are here for the Hero Arts 2019 Catalog Blog Hop you are in the right place.

If you are curious what the 30 Day coloring challenge is I will have more info at the bottom of my post and a warm welcome to you. Now is a good time to jump in and get your feet wet.

Congratulations to Hero Arts! Their new catalog is a beauty and all of the new products rock. I was so torn what to color for day 15. and finally decided on these beautiful butterflies called, “New Day Butterflies”! Love the different styles and sizes of butterflies.

My mom is moving and she likes to say she’s moving to her final resting place! I thought making an art piece for her bathroom would be a nice thing to do.

These frames from A.C. Moore are so reasonable and nice to have on hand. I like to pick them up when they are on sale.

Usually I just wing it and hope whatever I am coloring will fit the frame. I am learning! This time I measured the opening to the frame!

When you stamp and mask sooo many butterflies spotlight coloring does the trick and makes a few of the butterflies stand out.

On another note I think my technical difficulties from yesterday are more that that. Gah! I filmed and edited a video for today and lost the edited video. Such a bummer! The painting from start to finish took about 4.5 hours not counting editing the video lol. I promise to get it resolved so I can get a video of some watercoloring for you.

What I used on the background was two Tombow markers and to paint the butterflies I used distress ink.

GIVEAWAY!  Hero Arts is giving away four (4!) $50 shopping sprees, drawn from comments left on all of the blogs along the hop. (Comments close on Sunday February 17 at 11:59pm PST & the winner will be announced on the Hero Arts blog the next week.) Good luck!

If you are new to my coloring challenge, you can join in any time and there is never any pressure “to catch up” if life gets in the way and you are not able to join in each day. Click here to read more about it.  Have a great day, Kathy

Kathy, you are very thoughtful indeed to create this for your moms new place. 4.5 hours to create it is such a labour of love. I am sure she will treasure it. You must have done the background after you stamped your butterflies. I’m a bit hesitant to try that as I am afraid my background watercolour would run into the image. So striking & beautiful!

I love how you colored your butterflies & how you didn’t color them all. I like that. I also love that stamp! I am a butterfly lover from way back.
If I was going to color that & I might get this one, I would do what you did but color all the others in one color, like one in different shades of yellow, then purple & then red. So those 2 would still stand out but the rest would also be colored. I was just thinking is all. I still like what you did.
When I got my first adult coloring book of snowflakes in 1981, I gave them out as Christmas presents. I measured them & bought lucite frames. They were all plastic so all you saw was my coloring. I don’t know if they make them anymore or not but I loved how they looked. Your frame is cool too but I don’t know if they made yours back then.
I guess I am going blog hopping! I hope I win something! Thanks for being a part of the hop & for giving us the chance to win something!

This turned out beautiful! Some of your other beautiful framed artwork has inspired me to make a resolution to try creating wall art this year. This was the perfect reminder to get on that. I keep waiting to get better at painting, but I may need to settle for “good enough” for now and make something new when my skills improve!
