Simon Says Create Winner Announcement

Hello Friends!  A little over two months ago I followed my heart and purchased two tickets to the Simon Says Create event and booked a hotel room for three nights.  My only criteria was for you to email me with an explanation of a random act of kindness (RAK) that you have done for someone and why. (You can read the post here)  I can’t begin to tell you how awed and inspired I was by the hundreds of entries I received!

Where I live, it is pretty common to see a story on our local news station about “snow angel” stories (people who shovel snow for the elderly enabling them to stay in their homes longer).  There are also those who do free lawn care for the elderly for the same reason.  Other local stories that are shared every Tuesday on a local radio station are “drive thru difference” stories; people who purchase the meals for the person behind them in the drive thru at Starbucks, Dunkin’ Donuts, Chick-Fil-A, etc.  I really enjoy these good news stories.

I knew it would be difficult to choose just one winner for my RAK Giveaway.  I had no idea how wonderfully overwhelming it would be!  Literally dozens of you had similar stories of how you DONATE your time, money, basic necessities, craft supplies, prom dresses, meals, treats, gift cards, and greeting cards FOR: friends, family, homeless, disabled veterans, hurricane victims, neighbors, co-workers, school children, etc. AND this is only the people that happen to follow my blog!

All of your stories filled my heart with hope and joy.  I am so happy to hear that so many of you hold doors for strangers, smile, make eye contact, and say “hello” to passersby.  It truly is thrilling to me that all of you seem focused on treating others with dignity, honor, and respect, even if they seem rude.  One never knows what troubles another person may have.  Your compassion brought tears to me eyes.

I found myself in quite a predicament to make a decision…so I did two things:

  1.  I googled “define Random Act of Kindness”:
    A random act of kindness or RAK is a selfless act performed by kind people to either help or cheer up a random stranger, for no reason other than to make people happier.
  2.   I re-read every.single.entry.  I searched for the ones that met the definition and were unique, but not necessarily a grand gesture.

Please understand this was difficult for me.  You all are worthy in my eyes!  Without further ado, here is my winner.

but, wait!!! …. THERE ARE TWENTY MORE WINNERS WOO HOO!! The stack on the right has new and unused stamps and die cuts that I am giving to 2o winners.  (the rest of the boxes have gently used stamps and die cuts etc)
