Butterflies

IMG_0299

Hello Friends! How are you? I can’t believe it’s September 1st. Stamptember… I mean September is a busy month and a special month because it’s the beginning of Simon Says Stamptember. The “Thankful” sentiment is one of the new goodies from the Stamptember collection from Simon Says Stamp. The butterflies are an oldie from Avery Elle but, a favorite for sure.

Today I am a guest on Ruby’s blog … I hope you will check out the post. Ruby asks some fun questions and might have a giveaway .. wink.

You may be noticing that I am using these stitched frames a lot lately (from Lawn Fawn) I love them becase it’s easy to create a shaker card with them because of the thickness of the frame. For the background I used some distress ink and this dotted stencil from Simon Says. To finish off my card I used the water droplets from Pretty Pink Posh .. they are available in two sizes … 6 mm droplets and 4mm droplets . In case you are curious my butterflies were watercolored with distress ink and Tim Holtz’s watercolor paper.

I masked off the butterflies with masking paper and watercolored the background with distress ink. I ended up muddying up the background and it was U.G.L.Y. so when in doubt cut it out lol.

I will be back tomorrow with a Lawn Fawn exclusive from Simon’s Stamptember. Thank you Ruby for having me and thanks to you for your visit today. Hugs, Kathy

Beautiful card, Kathy. I love your originality, I’ve started using alcohol markers, but I’m not very good at it. Watercoloring is easier for me because I can “color outside the lines” and pretend I meant to do it.

See much to love here! Your new die gradient colors remind me of candy corn! (Did someone say candy corn)? Love the stitch die polka dots matching the inner shaker panel you’re such a genius! Lovely details everywhere!

This is really beautiful Kathy. I agree with “when in doubt, CUT it out!” (I do that sometimes too as it’s better than, “when in doubt, THROW it out!” LOL)
Thanks for sharing your work and your videos. My 4 y/o grandson now calls himself a card maker and has me stamp off images for him to colour all the time and thanks, in part to you/your videos, he now colours inside the lines! What fun we have…

Geeking out over your color combo, and polka-dots!! I LOVED reading up about you over at Ruby’s:)) My favorite part was that you think the most wonderful part about YOU, is that you LOVE to color.
I think you are the most thoughtful and kind colorist out there in blog/youtube/IG land.
