Altenew Watercolor Brush Markers Release Blog Hop + Giveaway

Hello, Friends!  I want to wish everyone happy Spring.  I *think* we are done with snow and I am happy to see new blooms on trees and bushes.  It is my pleasure to join in the fun for the Altenew Watercolor Brush Markers Release Blog Hop.   These markers are amazing; so fun and they really make it so easy to watercolor.

To start at the beginning of the hop go to the Altenew Card Blog.  (You will find the full hop list at the bottom of my post.)

If you are coming from the Altenew Scrapbook blog, you are in the right place.

This blog hop is focused on Altenew’s “Tropical Fiesta” set of Watercolor Brush Markers  and I know the other ladies in the hop will wow us with their projects! The markers are fun to use and great for travel. The vibrant colors can be soft or intense and I love that.

I stamped this beautiful “Build- A-Flower: Magnolia” several times onto some watercolor paper. In this photo my watercoloring is complete and all I need to do is add a watercolored background.

In this photo my background is finished and before I move on I like to heat set my project, then add some detail and darker areas with pencils.

What do you think? Do you like the added effects of the pencil? Just a reminder to really sharpen your pencil and to use light strokes. Seeing the texture come through the pencil is something that I like to see. The sharp pencil helps fill in those microscopic nooks in the paper.

Adding a sentiment from the stamp set and some of Lucy’s sequins is a quick finish. A pop of color on the inside is a nice contrast and a surprise for the recipient.

Just in case you were curious of the … before and after … the background was painted and before the pencil details.

If you are unfamiliar with these watercolor brush markers, the barrel is filled with water-based color, and coordinates with Altenew’s line of inks. The flexible, yet sturdy bristles on the brush tip allow you to form both broad and fine strokes. Color can be applied straight from the marker, or diluted with water for a softer look.

Prizes:  Altenew is giving away a $40 gift certificate to six lucky winners! Please leave a comment on the Altenew Card Blog and/or Altenew Scrapbook Blog by Thursday, March 28th for a chance to win. Six winners will be announced on the Altenew blogs on 3/31/2019.

Altenew will draw a winner to receive a $20 gift certificate from the comments left on each designer’s blog on the blog hop list below. All winners will be announced on the Altenew blogs on 3/31/2019.

Next stop in the blog hop is the talented Caly Person.  Caly watercolors vividly; her scenes are magical! Thank you so very much for your visit and I am always grateful. Have fun hopping!  Hugs, Kathy

Love these new colours & the way Altenew puts them together in a set so they blend well. I like your card both ways, but the extras you put into the end result sure made a difference. They went from beautiful flowers on a piece of cardstock to looking like the vines were growing in the spaces between rocks in a wall. You are a star!

Gorgeous card. I like how you mixed two medias to color your floral images. The watercolor brush markers are so vibrant and highlighting with colored pencil add just the right touch of detail. Thanks for sharing your time and talent with us.

I love how you always go for a bold flower; they make your cards so happy. And I’m a big fan of the pencil detailing. In fact, I think that’s exactly what some of my watercolor pieces are in need of right now, so thanks for reminding me that I don’t have to stick to one coloring medium!
