Stressed? How About A Coloring Challenge?

Hello Friends! How are you? Are you craving some daily coloring …. looking for an excuse to find some YOU time? I think The Coloring Challenge will do just that for all of us! Let’s be honest times are hard for so many and even harder for others. My prayers are that you are finding some peace and comfort in this new normal and you are staying healthy!

Since things are so off kilter I decided to change up The 30 Day Coloring Challenge. Going forward the challenge will NOT  be 30 days for awhile. If the Coloring Challenge is a shorter time commitment I will be able to do more challenges. I hope you think that ‘s a win win.

Wednesday is the the first day of “The Daily Marker Coloring Challenge”. This particular challenge will be 11 days and it will the EIGHTEENTH CHALLENGE. Whew how time flies!

Sandy Boone from Three Room Studio has designed some of the coolest and most inspiring digital stamps for slimline  cards or FOR YOUR ZOOM or VIRTUAL BACKGROUNDS FOR a minimal charge of only $3.07. Check out these exciting designs  … the Coffee Shop, Craft Room, Office and Witch’s Parlor.

Watch my video to see one of the backgrounds that I will be coloring during the upcoming coloring challenge. The background is a little wonky because my computer is on the fritz.

If this is your first time joining the challenge a warm welcome to you!  The goal of this challenge is to find a little time to color and enjoy sharing with your coloring community, spreading kindness & support for each other!  Perhaps you can only find ten minutes on some days, that is totally cool. This challenge is supposed to be fun and stress free!! This is a good way to put your coloring mediums to use while finding some self care.

I hope to answer any questions you might have or give you a little refresher if you have participated before.  I will share my daily coloring both on my blog and on Instagram.  I am rarely on Facebook, but there will also be a private FACEBOOK PAGE, if that is where you choose to share your coloring.  Hopefully you will be inspired by the other entries posted each day by other participants and we can encourage each other to stretch our creativity.

** If you post on Instagram and your account is private I won’t be able to see what you are coloring and nobody from the community will be able to either (just in case you didn’t know that)**

Have a look at the #thedailymarker30day and you will find over 180,000 entries and so much inspiration from the previous challenges. It also gives you an idea of what some of our community is doing for their coloring.

Thank YOU all for your participation!!!  I would NOT be here if it wasn’t for you all!! Grateful is an understatement.

WHAT IS THE GOAL OF THE CHALLENGE?  To color something daily, even if it’s a few minutes, but certainly not required.  (I know that I am happier when I am coloring even if it’s for 10 minutes.)  It’s an ‘anything goes’ challenge; color whatever you feel inspired to do.  Any medium of your choice including “coloring” with ink or fiber for that matter.  Some days you will have more time than others but, it’s just about adding more time to color and carve out a little time for you. PLEASE DON’T FEEL like you need to finish or make a card. This is about coloring and finding a little time and it’s a lot about DE-STRESSING!  (often I have colored one petal on a flower).

CAN ANYONE PARTICIPATE IN THE 30 DAY CHALLENGE?  YES please!  If you want to participate you can jump in at any time during the challenge.  Feel free to include your children and grandchildren.  If you miss a few days don’t feel like you have to catch up.  We all know life can get in the way.

HOW DO YOU SHARE WHAT YOU ARE COLORING?  On Day 1  I will have a place for you to share on my blog with a link up (here is the last challenge link up if you want to have a look).  Two more ways to share are FaceBook or Instagram (these are more interactive).  When you use the hashtag #thedailymarker30day  and tag me that way I hope to find what you are doing.  Kids & young adults use #thedailymarker30daykids.

WHAT IS A GOODWILL AMBASSADOR?  Each challenge a group of people are chosen that was very active during during the previous challenge.  They will be helping me spread love on Instagram and Facebook.  The challenge is about coloring & community, spreading kindness & support for each other.

THE GOODWILL AMBASSADORS FOR THIS CHALLENGE are: A huge shout out to these lovely ladies! Most of them have been LONG time coloring challenge participants and so fun to see these beautiful faces! It’s always an honor when a Goodwill Ambassador says yes to this time commitment and I hope you will check out their body of work on Instagram.

So happy to see you shorten the length of your fun challenge Kathy. As much as I enjoy participating, I found the 30 length to be stressful in itself, and I know that wasn’t the goal. Thanks for understanding that a lot of us are overstressed these days and shorter, more frequent is just the ticket….for me anyway!

Time is what we all have some of… smaller increments these days! Getting ready for winter always make me a little sad. The time change never is good as it is dark now before 6:00pm. Yuck!! I am going to color lots of sunshine to help me through the dark winter. Thanks Kathy, you’re awesome!

This is always a fun event. Coloring for just a few minutes is relaxing. I like coloring for hours, too. Some of my projects may only have a tiny bit of coloring but they are all fun.
