Waffle Flower Spring Release & Video

Helllloooo Friends! Happy weekend to you! I hope you are having some good weather and some creative crafty time this weekend.

Waffle Flower is having a hop to celebrate their new release and I am pretty sure you are going to love it. Waffle Flower is having smaller releases more often just to keep us happy & keep those creative juices flowing lol. To start at the beginning of the hop click here.

If you don’t want to miss a video you can subscribe here and don’t forget to click on alerts and you will be notified when I post a video.

This is a nice and cozy little hop so you will be able to visit each blog easily and have more chances to win too. The hop list and giveaway will be at the bottom of my post.

For the Waffle Flower’s May release, They are celebrating motherly love with the layering Carnations (stamp, die, combo), the uplifting Always (stamp, die, combo), & the unique garden spirits set called Let Love Grow (stamp, die, combo).   Also included in this release is Salty Kisses (stamp, die, combo) for the up coming wedding season and Sweet Ice Cream (stamp, die, combo) for summery everyday projects.  Matching dies are available separately or with the stamps as combos.  The stand-alone Sun Shine Panel Die works great with all stamps in this release or any other bright and happy images you may already have. I love each and every one of these for reals. If only there was more time in the day.

Look at this layering carnation… swoon. I decided to color it instead cause I just love to color. This is my new go to ink for “no line coloring”. Using some Tombow markers and this paper I was all set to watercolor. Dawn, who is an amazing artist, said that expensive or fancy brushes don’t matter the thing to spend money on is good paper .. so I thought I would pass that along.

In my video I explain how I created this background with one of the layering elements. I did this oodles of years ago and it’s a quick & easy background. I used this and this distress ink.

I really wanted the carnation to pop so I die cut two flower from black foam and glued them together. I love the bold graphic look the black gives to my card.

Yes I had to color some twine and I popped the sentiments with some foam tape. An easy finish to this card.

I colored in some of the nooks and crannies with my 0.03 super fine tip marker. Right now all Copic stuff like the blending solution & the must have 0.03 marker that I use all the time is 25% off at Simon. Use code MARKER. Yipeee!! I love a good sale.

Fortunately I was able to find a little time to finish coloring this beautiful stamp set called, ” Always” So uplifting and evokes such emotion for me. Later I will layer her up for a card hopefully soon.

I love hair like this because it’s easy to color instead of a helmet hair lol. She was colored with all distress ink in some what a monochromatic palette. The 0.03 was used to add small accents on the card and to draw the pattern on her shirt.

GIVEAWAY!  Waffle Flower is  giving away $25 gift certificates to THREE lucky winners.  Winners will be chosen at random from the comments left on any of the posts on this blog hop and will be announced on the Waffle Flower blog on 5/9/2018.

Kathy, seeing you do the nooks and crannies at the beginning was like a eureka moment for me. To see what a difference it made just in black and white and then to see it all come together. . . and the clarity of using the tombows to watercolor, I finally get it. Everything about this video was enlightening, approachable, inspiring. I love them all but this one — really tied it together with that sweet flower (that would not normally have called me but that now I must have). Thank you SO much.

I appreciate your videos, and it was really interesting to see the nooks and crannies done before the watercoloring! I might try that as an exercise sometime soon; it seems like a good learning experience. And clearly this carnation has inspired many of you on this hop! I’m also happy to see that you got to color the girl and her bird. Such a sweet image, and I love how you did the hair; you’re right that that style of line art really helps with the highlights and lowlights. Thanks for sharing with us, and I can’t wait for June and the next coloring challenge!

Echoing the others in praising your lovely cards and sharing some ‘much needed’ (for me!) tips/techniques for colouring! Your carnations, especially, warm my heart, as they spark memories of the abundant blooms that grew in my grandma’s garden. She had the greenest of thumbs when it came to flowers…and gardens, as well. Thank you for the wonderful inspiration today!

I love the black foam behind the carnations! It really accentuates the flowers!

Gorgeous! Amazing coloring on both the carnation and the girl panel. Love the background technique on the card – so clever and wonderfully effective. The black fun foam is a great highlight and adds such great dimension.

The carnation looks like you took an actual carnation, pressed it and added it to the front of your card. Stunning.I love the way you colored the girl, blue eyeshadow forever!
