using part of a die cut

kathy racoosin watercoloring copy

Hello Friends, How are you today? I have been so inspired with the OnLine Watercoloring class that I packed some paper, my favorite brushes & watercolors for a weekend away. The background was created in a hotel room with these water colors that are fantastic for travel. When I arrived home my card was easy and quick to finish. (I even accomplished some while sitting in the passenger seat during our 7 hour drive… a great way to pass the time.)

In the class Jennifer McGuire makes sure that you save every delightful inch of your work …even if it doesn’t pass the test for a card it will make the cut for some die cutting. I had to agree and yes she’s a genius! (you can still sign up for the class it’s not to late. So much bang for your buck in my honest opinion). 🙂

  1. die cut the “hello”
  2. die cut the “hello” again onto your card base, & carefully tape the word on the back of your card. prep your layers
  3. check to make sure your edges are free of paper slivers from the die. if not use a brush to remove all of the little bits
  4. select an area of the watercoloring that you want to use & cut  a section out
  5. line the paper up to the place on the die cut that you want to use
  6. use post-it tape to hold it down on your cutting plate
  7. glue the butterflies with a dab of glossy accents to secure the on your card
  8. cut the foam tape into smaller pieces for  more milage
  9. add to your card and assemble your layers

Have a wonderful weekend and thank YOU for your visit today. Hugs, Kathy

I love how you used die cuts from pieces you might have otherwise thrown away. I will have to go back through my trash bin and see what I can salvage! I, too, am absolutely loving the Watercolor class… I have learned so much already. Thank you for inspiring me today. Hope your day is wonderful!
