Hero Arts- My Monthly Hero Kit Blog Hop

MMH_logo_1000x1197-251x300

Hello Friends! How are you? I hope this post finds you happy and finding some crafty time in your week. 🙂

Today I’m honored to be part of the Hero Arts Blog Hop featuring their newest My Monthly Hero Kit. I had so much fun creating with it, that I couldn’t stop at just one card…

IMG_2244

Each one of Hero Arts kits is so different and each one is a fabulous not to mention a great value. I will share more of the kit details, price and the giveaway after my cards.

IMG_2232

A big bouquet is what I was going for and ended up just giving the biggest flower center stage on my card.

IMG_2233

The die cuts for this flower allow you to make some …what I call yummy layers because the die cut .. cuts to the edge without a white boarder. I always finish the white edges with a black memento marker.

IMG_2234

Layers really make a card pop as you all know… I used the super fab watercolors in the kit to paint my flower. Once dry I settled  upon a open window card. The sentiment was stamped with this black ink on vellum and taped to the back of the front. The large watercolor background on the inside was something I had done previously.

IMG_2230 (1)

These flowers were created with only one of the layering dies (part of the flower) The glass jar and the butterfly are from “Mason Jar Bugs” stamp set. The sentiment banner I cut free hand from some scrap watercolor and added a vellum layer on top to soften the bright color. The twine was colored with a red marker.

IMG_2231 (1)

Once the flowers were dry I added some dots with the tip of a marker in red. White gel pen dots were added to the centers of the flowers.

IMG_2235

The watercolor palette in the kit has some beautiful pearlescent shimmer colors like the blues and purples I used on this one layer card.

IMG_2236

Usually I leave my watercoloring to dry and when I come back I want add more…putz around the coloring a little. I added some grey shadows with my Copic markers (even tho it’s watercolor paper) and more dots with markers on top of the watercoloring. Stamping a sentiment on vellum is the easy answer for me since I never plan out a card.

KIT DETAILS : The kit is available for purchase HERE.  The kit sells for $29.99

Lovely – love how you’ve layered the flower and it has the water colour on the inside. I’ve seen these Daniel Smith watercolour sheets around and they look like a brilliant idea – I don’t always use a huge amount so having an introduction to them is very clever. Xx

Great job on the watercolouring, Kathy. I had to chuckle, though, when I saw the additonal Copic shading dots at the end of your post. I guess you’ll always be a Copic girl lol. The HA kit looks amazing. The stamp set and accompanying dies are great in themselves, but the addition of the DS watercolour dots is just awesome. I would love to try these paints…

I love dies like this that cut right up to the edge! I wish more companies would do that!!! I mean… we all stopped buying stickers when the electronic die cut machines hit the market, and now we’re buying $20 dies with an outline like a $2.00 sticker. I just don’t do it. My only dies are label shapes and things like flowers, leaves, and intricate words or backgrounds. I totally love this though!!! Awesome card Kathy 🙂

The stippling in the last card is just perfect and the fact that you gave the illusion of dimension with the shadow around the flower is even better! Wow! I also love the detail of the background inside of the first one. It is slightly lighter in the center so a message can be written and easily read; just great!
