What a lovely image! It would make a darling Holiday card. The Spectrum Aqua markers remind me very much of the Wink of Stella markers I’ve seen used in videos. Do you find them similar Kathy? I’ve only ever used the clear one personally.

    • Kathy Racoosin says

      February 5, 2016 at 10:33 pm

I have never watercolored with Wink of Stella but the Spectrum marker feels similar.I have seen other crafters using clear Wink of Stella over dried watercolor areas. A crafter friend of mine has used a watered down wink of stella marker when the glitter has gotten low and used it as a waterbrush with Zigs. Experiment have fun for you. Hope these tips help. 🙂

PS: The latest Watercolor Class at OCC was FANTASTIC. I have taken them ALL, and as you know I am a huge fan!

I highly recommend ANY and ALL classes at the Online Classroom and admit that all three of the Watercolor Classes are MY favorites! The most recent class is SUPERB!!

    • Kathy Racoosin says

      February 5, 2016 at 10:07 pm

I totally agree that the OCC classes are Fantastic. They are a superb source to learn from and watch so many techniques. They are so worth the reasonable subscription fee and you have access forever to go back and review etc. Thank you for your sharing your wonderful experiences. 🙂

  40. Betty says

    February 5, 2016 at 10:54 am

have never used these markers and would love to give them a try – especially since most of my copics (favorite colors anyway) have dried out – great video and as usual wonderful coloring

    • Kathy Racoosin says

      February 5, 2016 at 10:11 pm

Betty, you purchase refills for your copics. They are easy to refill and your refils will give you many marker fills. You can use refils for painting and various other techniques. This is one of the reason people invest in copics because they are refillable. I hope this tip helps. Thank you for joining in on the fun. 🙂

Oh my goodness! I don’t think I’ve ever been so excited about a giveaway. These markers lol like sooo much fun! And I have an addiction to glitter 🙂
I love, love the cardinal stamp. They’re such beautiful birds…it’s pretty infrequent, but when they’re around, you can spot them a mile away where I live, as I think they just may be the only birds in our state that are colored (besides the blue jay, which are more rare to be seen than the cardinal!)
Thanks, as always, for inspiring me, and for sharing your wonderful talent. Much love. Xo

    • Kathy Racoosin says

      February 5, 2016 at 10:13 pm

  60. bev p says

    February 5, 2016 at 11:20 am

I love your rambly chat! I think you may be just a little like me in this way: I can’t do two things at once! I think it’s just awesome that you would even try to encourage all of us followers by creating video and explaining your process. Some of us are still fairly new at all this, so I count it as instruction time! I always learn something. All that and a chance to get some fun stuff–who can complain? (Forgive me if I am overstepping; I had to do a teaching video once, then critique it. I kept getting sidetracked by random observations that had nothing to do with what I was supposed to be watching. Like the shine on my nose that whited out the screen, or the fact that my blouse was doing something funny at the neckline! It doesn’t take much to distract!) I think you are so brave to do all this, and with a new program to learn too. You are way too amazing!

    • Kathy Racoosin says

      February 5, 2016 at 10:30 pm

I agree. It’s like the old saying I have trouble walking and talking and chewing gum all at the same time.LOL Your mind gets ahead of your mouth etc. Thank you Bev for always being so supportive and kind. Hugs, 🙂

I can watch you color and blend and listen to you talk all day long. You color with such naturally raw ability that no matter what you touch, sparkles and turns to liquid gold. (Even if the medium isn’t sparkly). The Spectrum Aquas remind me of the Copic atyou Spica pens.

I love the image of the stacking tea cups/bowls and the cardinals. I love these challenges and love how spoiled I am becoming with all the videos this time around. I managed to do a little mindless colouring in a colouring book at the hospital yesterday (pre-op exams, but surgery of DH has been posponed for a few weeks because of his blood values and his lungs). Thank you SO much for this video. I have both the Spectrum Aquas and the Spectrum Sparkle, and let me tell you. I had so many issues with those sparkles. Well, the biggest issue was letting my niece use them with me for the first time, because she had purple everywhere!! haha Boy does that pen leak. I will have to go back with a pin to the ones that wouldn’t pop open. (Thank you for that tip)

I love my aqua markers, but I think I need better paper, because they don’t blend well on what I have. My sparkle pens I used on Christmas cards, and they remind a lot of Wink of Stella, with color. They are SO sparkly! Just gorgeous.. The colors are amazing. I did put them up though, because they are so messy.. Just so my niece wouldn’t grab them, when I’m not around.

You have inspired me to have another go with them, though. This card is so gorgeous. I think maybe I just wasn’t using them properly. I’m also going to get some of that paper. It’s lovely.

Beautiful card. Thanks again for a wonderful challenge. I’m going to get like 20 of those storage containers.. all my Spectrums are in a box, and I have every color, even their alcohol markers.. I just love them, but I’m still working on getting brush nibs for the alcohol markers. So expensive.

    Hey Kathy!
I first want to say that your card is GORGEOUS! I love the water coloring that you did and that image is just lovely! Your white pen work really makes the image pop, love all that detail. And now I want to say something that I truly mean from the bottom of my heart. I really enjoyed your video this time around, more so than most of your videos. I think it is because you were just rambling on about things in general and you were being your true self… I enjoyed listening to you and watching you switch from color to color and I enjoyed seeing how you handled one of the markers not flowing and how you went ahead and took the pin to get it to flow… these are the little things that most people edit out of their videos and I really enjoyed seeing a video with real life going on in it…. and I appreciate that so much. So thank you for sharing such a wonderful video and thank you for the chance to win!
    Hugs,
    Jo

I love watching you color and explain what you’re doing along the way. These birds are lovely, as is the finished card. I wish we had cardinals out my way. I like the idea of a bit of shimmer in the marker and certainly like that they’re so easily blended. I hope to do a little coloring during the Super Bowl, but not sure I can concentrate on both at once. So far, my 5 minutes a day has been used stamping some images. Gotta start somewhere, huh? Off to check out Power Poppy and the hop.

Never tried those markers, but they look very pretty. I do have the Zig watercolor brushes and like them. I think it depends on the paper you use as far as getting them to blend. I love the vivid colors!
Thanks for sharing! I will be back.

Beautiful. I haven’t used these markers before, but used to use the Studio II Alcohol Markers many years ago and loved them. (Till they went out of business and I couldn’t get refills anymore. 🙁 I’ll definitely be looking in to these pens.
