Just a little make up – watercoloring

IMG_2804

Hello Friends, How are you? I was away this past weekend and instead of packing up my Copics I decided to travel with my watercolors instead. I’m in love with these birds called, “Bird Crazy” !! I really am crazy for them. Luckily my friend has them and I was able to stamp a few until mine arrive! You can purchase just the single bird but, I love each and every one of them. Paper Smooches stamp set called, “Love Struck” had the perfect sentiment and arrows for my card.

If you follow me on Instagram you have seen me use these watercolors a few times.. I find it weighs less then bringing my Copic markers and I have more time to piddle and experiment when I am away.

I shared this comparison on Instagram.  After the watercolor came some makeup. I used a few markers to get the “blush” and eyeshadow. I drew eyelids with a FINE tip Sharpie & added wink of stella.  I also added lashes…so fun!

Always save your scrap watercoloring and or canvas. I dug up some of my scraps and used them behind the tiny die cut hearts. I deliberately let the fringe show inside the hearts.

I hope you have some crafty time carved out this weekend and in the meantime have a great day. Thanks for your visit I know how valuable your time is. Hugs, Kathy

I love this! So amazing how much detail you added after the initial watercoloring. I LOVE the eyelashes! Really fun too how you let the fringe from the scrap canvas show through the heart punches. I also think your background is beautiful!

Oh my gosh how adorable is that bird with makeup on!!! What a brilliant idea! What a great way to give the already super stamps a new look. Oh! Aviator goggles and a flowing scarf. All kinds of ideas are popping into my head now.

Amazing and so darn cute…..!! I have the stamp set on pre-order and can’t wait to play with it…after my surgery…which is now coming very soon.

Its’ been dreadful here in MA with the 4′ of snow we now have and I just saw the forecast that we have another FOOT coming on Saturday nite and then we’re going to have temps BELOW freezing….OMG! Enough already…this is getting VERY depressing….

Thank goodness for people like YOU, who make me smile with your wonderful creativity….I know once I feel better I am going to have a TON of fun back in my craft room. I MISS it sooo much and am so looking forward to SPRING…! It can NOT come soon enough for me. Although every one is now concerned about where all the “water” will go once the snow does start to melt…..it’s really a bad situation….

Sure HOPE you are much warmer down your way and that you and your family are all happy the healthy….it’s a true GIFT!

    Big Hugs…

I can’t wait for my Bird Crazy set to arrive! This card is fantastic! I love how you put makeup on this guy (in my head, he’s a guy)! And, you’re right about the watercolor scraps … I made a blog post about what I did with my scraps if you’re interested: http://stampwithstephanie.blogspot.com/2014/11/mini-distress-ink-play.html

I don’t comment nearly as much as I should, since I get your posts via email…but had to pop over to say this card just made me smile! LOVE the water color background and even though the bird hasn’t really interested me, what you did with it…well that changed things! Doubt I’ll ever get the set, since I couldn’t replicate what you did, but at least now I understand the appeal. The arrows and the sentiment, just cracked me up. Thanks so much for sharing this! I really appreciate your talent and the giant smile I got from this card.

Love the fun way you altered your bird! So cute! I guess I’m going to have to keep on practicing. Every time I try to watercolor the end result looks like a mess. I have yet to do one single watercolor project that I would be proud to present to a friend or family member.
