off to college card & fixing blurry letters

IMG_9847 2

Hello!!! How are you all? Thanks for hanging in with me this summer with less blog posts to share with you. We have been home but, without structure so it’s hard to find the craft time with the “kids” home. Soon we will be packing the car to take our daughter back to college! This station wagon and luggage were the perfect images for a good bye card for our daughter. After stamping more suit cases to fit in the back of the wagon I added glossy accents to the windows, wheels and some of the luggage on the top. The background was stamped with this city scape. After coloring “light” in the building windows I added glossy accents. A yellow copic marker was used to give a buildings that hazy city glow.

I love the new die from Simon called, “Thought Bubbles” and the matching stamp set with the sentiment worked for my card too. The problem was I used the wrong ink … because I added some copic marker shading after I stamped the sentiment. Hence the blurry lines…. but, no worries I can fix that.

I used a super fine tip copic marker to add some hashes on the letters for a fun twist. After I finished I somehow ended up with a big black smoosh!!! So I can fix that too lol. I cut it off and went from “wishing” to “wishin”. Here’s to wishin’ and hoping that you have had a nice summer. I will be back soon with Simons Sept. Card Kit… L.O.V.E it! Have a good week. Hugs, Kathy

A very cool card, that fit the situation perfectly, I think. And thanks sooo much for the tut on how to fix these small blubs we all get from time to time. I admit, I´ve never thought about making these lines on the letters, but it actually looks really cool, so really great idea, thanks so much for that.

You are brilliant!! Not only do I love the card, but I also tend to have “oops” moments with my sentiments at times, and if can totally ruin a finished card! I LOVE this idea of a simple yet decorative fix!! You are just the best at coming up with fabulous cards and super creative ideas! THANK YOU!!!

    Hugs,
    Lisa

Your card is adorable and the blur solutions looks incredible! I love what it adds to the card and can’t wait to have a blur of my own. I’ll be adding this fun idea to many cards and layouts. Thanks for the idea.

Love the way you fixed the blurry letters! We all have projects that end up with a boo boo, after we’ve spent lots of time on them so seeing ways to repair the damage or tweak the design so we can still keep the card is awesome!

Lol it’s a bubble in the window. With the new cars maybe I will have my next car image drive itself. 🙂

    Hi Kathy!

Wow you definitely caught me with that super neat way of fixing a very aggravating mistake. I am grateful for that info and I know now what to do when I get that blurry image when I stamp. Also cute but fun card for announcing that event of a child going off to college. I never thought of doing that theme here in Trinidad. I forgot that not all of our children go to colleges here in the Caribbean but a lot go abroad to study.
