Penny Black Saturday Challenge Blog

I was thrilled to be asked to be a guest designer at the Penny Black Saturday Challenge blog HERE.
If you haven’t been by their blog I can guarantee that you will be inspired!!  If you are visiting my blog for the first time…welcome! I am so glad to have you stop by! I was excited to participate with a sketch challenge this week at PBSC blog and I think it’s such a lovely design.

I adore this transparent set called Betsy Bluebell and I wanted her on a cloud in the sky pouring the rain from her watering can onto the flowers. Well…this is what I ended up with and I hope you like it.

When it comes down to designing the card for the sketch I can’t follow it exactly…I try really hard but, maybe something is wrong with me…… I find the same thing when I am using a recipe…I have to alter it in some way. Does this ever happen to you??

IMG_1289

I just could not think of a pretty way to have water coming out of her little can. Below you can  see how she floats on the cloud within the circle in the “sky”? On the scalloped part I folded up the edges up a little for some more dimension.

For the card base and layering I just visited my scrap bin. For the blue card base I used the music note background stamp with broken china. With a light touch I added some of the same distress ink on the corners. Once I cut my grass strip I added some peeled paint. (All the supplies are listed below this post) I just sketched some free form clouds from white paper and used a black marker around the edges and stamped  with the music notes. The sentiment is a sticker which is easy to apply and something that doesn’t have to be cleaned. Love that!
A  HUGE thanks to Kath and the design team for letting me play along with them this week! I feel so honored 🙂

By the way….  Did you notice another challenge besides this sketch from “Penny Black Saturday Challenge” here?  On the official  Penny Black’s blog is their first ever challenge here.
While I am on the topic of Penny Black you must check out Penny Black’s Face Book here …. there are giveaways ALL WEEKEND!!!!
Have a great weekend and thanks again. Hugs, Kathy

    Hi Kathy,

Love your card!! So wonderful sunny and bright and that girlie is just the cutest! I don’t miss the water, and it’s quite difficult to put the water to the flowers, ’cause you used the depth in the card! But maybe with Stickles? Or Glossy accents? Just some details? I love your colors!!

    Hugs,
    Wendy
