simon says stamp blog hop

PureSunshineBanner
Hello Friends, Welcome to Simon Says Stamp exciting new release  “Pure Sunshine” blog hop! Be prepared to be dazzled with this release and you will find that there is something for everyone including dies, stencils and stamps in this release!! To start at the beginning of the hop click here.
IMG_8832
Today I am featuring only one of the newest die cuts…. it’s actually a PARTIAL DIE  aptly named “Partial Cut Die Flowers”

I had so much fun using the cool die cut that I created THREE cards and a VIDEO!!

It’s a quick 5 minute video since you will be hopping. At the bottom of the post I have a pictorial of how I assembled my card.

IMG_8837
For card # 2 I wanted to use the partial flower die as a background highlighting a stacked flower. Scroll down for a tip on that.

IMG_8834
On card number 3 I am showing how simple it is to create a card with using the partial die as it’s intended. Wink of Stella is a great glittery accent so I added it to the petals only. I can’t thank Jennifer McGuire enough for introducing me to this magical marker. Scroll down for a little tip for for the flowers centers.

Before we get to the tips a little more On the GIVEWAY. Simon Says Stamp will be giving away a goody bag to one commenter on every blog in the hop. That’s 15 different chances to win! The giveaways for the goody bags will close at 6:00pm EST on Thursday May 22, 2014. The winners will be randomly selected from each blog and announced on the Simon blog on Fri. May 23rd.

my_collage_by_Fuzel

  1. die cut the flowers, use watercolor pencils to add color with Marvy blender marker  (you will see this in my video)
  2. add color to the BACK  of the flowers for an extra element on your card. this can be accomplished by scribbling the color on and washing it with the marvy marker. quick and easy.
  3. die cut the flowers again on some different SSS colored cardstock.
  4. SNIP BETWEEN THE PETALS to cut out the flowers
  5. tape the cut flowers onto the back of the watercolored flowers so the vibrant color peeks from underneath the petals.
  6. admire your handy work.

IMG_8797
On card #2 I used this flower as an accent. It was die cut from some paper that I had previously watercolored (inspired by OCC) Then, I SNIPPED BETWEEN THE PETALS to cut out the flower. Once the flower was cut out I rounded out between the petals with my scissors. Wink of stella was added and then a dab of scrap dots to the center of the flower so I could get some good dimension. ( allow lots of time for the scrap dots to dry)

IMG_8799
On card #3 I added some dimensional tape to the back of an enamel dot. I really wanted the centers to be as high on the card as the flowers petals. Now  it’s time to hop on over to the talented and sweet Lucy….  Lucy’s Cards . Thanks for letting me share with you today and thanks to Simon for letting me be a part the hop. Enjoy the hop 🙂 Hugs, Kathy
