Day 2. Watercoloring with Distress Oxides

Hello Friends, Woo Hoo It’s Day 2. I am so pumped by what you all are sharing … it’s like drinking a bottle of  wine!  Not really but, it makes me giddy and  I am  being silly because I am so pumped!

Usually for Day 2. I like to plan a blog hop but, honestly I had to take that off the table because in life these next two months there is just to much to do. Isn’t it always that way tho hahah. I am sure you are just as crazy but, that’s what’s  great about this challenge. It forces me/us to make time!

Every time I get out my Distress Oxides I love the results but, they usually aren’t on my radar. I inked up Gina K. Designs beautiful butterfly called, “Your Wings” with (I probably don’t need to say anymore lol) Warm Glow ink. I love the sentiment PLUS how you can have different options to stamp on the wings. I choose to keep mine simple.

You can watch a this short video on Instagram how I dropped the color on the paper. I waited for the first layer of color to dry then with my wet brush I dropped in Wilted Violet on top of  every color. Love how the colors interacted together forming  beautiful color combos.

Once the second layer of color was dry I used a dark brown pencil and a violet pencil to enhanced the wings. Eyelash lines were drawn on  the main butterfly only.

I know I sound like a broken record but, the proof  is real. Such a difference a sharp pencil or two can make. Try brown don’t use the same color as your project  ….  just saying!

See you tomorrow  and have a great day. Hugs, Kathy

I love your card! I love how you did the eyelashes on the main butterfly. You always do these cool tricks on your cards & I always think I will too & then I don’t. I have to remember to do stuff like that. However, I do use lots of embellishments as you can see by my cards so that is something different, right? I never knew you could use stamp ink & make it into water colors or is it just Distress Oxide? I love my Twinkling H2O’s watercolors. I’d like to get all of their colors. I have to make a list of all the colors I have because some I have doubles of, then I can order the ones I don’t have.
You did a really great job on this card. One more question. What do I do when a colored pencil I have just sharpened breaks? I always have points on my pencils but sometimes they aren’t sharp enough & then they break. I hate that! That happened the other night when I tried to get a point on one of my chalk pencils.

    • Kathy Racoosin says

      March 17, 2020 at 4:43 pm

Unfortunately there are some pencils that are prone to that. I use mostly Polychromos and they don’t break as much but they are pricey I know.
