basicgrey blog hop and giveaway

Welcome to the BasicGrey Knee Highs and Bow Ties Blog Hop!  You should have arrived here from the blog of the talented Joscelyne Cutchens. If you want to start at the beginning go to the BasicGrey blog.

Awe, those playground days—a time full of wonderment and imagination. BasicGrey has captured that energy and excitement in these two coordinating lines. The rough and tumble look of Bow Ties will liven up your crafty toy box, with its vibrant shades of leap-frog green, red-rover red, freeze-tag teal, and more. And the playful motifs in this line, which include tools, cars, creepy-crawlies and rocket ships, will rev your creative engine and as your project ideas soar to new heights.

Looking for a bit more sugar and spice? Knee Highs will put a smile on your face with its rainbow brights and fanciful florals.

I am so tickled pink and green with this collection called,”Knee Highs” that I couldn’t stop with one card. Seriously…it’s always so difficult to select the papers for my cards because I am in love with all of the patterns.

In the Knee Highs Collection pack you will find the most beautiful stickers. When I saw this owl I knew that I needed to use it right away. The green scalloped boarder, butterflies, “celebrating you” paper, and the letters were all in the collection pack. I just love the variety in the collection packs and it’s a great way to assemble some fast cards or layouts.

Even though I loved the owl as it was I decided to give the owl a brighter belly … just because. I used a piece of vellum, traced the belly, laid it on top of the heart paper and cut out the shape of the belly. This took all of three seconds and glued it with some Glossy Accents. (the only adhesive I use) I used a nice pool of Glossy Accents on the owls eyes. In this photo the eyes are still wet.

Most of the time I love to stick the letters on a complimentary color and cut around the edges. I find this small step makes a big difference in the overall look of my card.

These next two cards I whipped up quickly with all of my paper scraps laying around. These stickers were the perfect addition to my backgrounds. What a value! I just double checked the price and I think you would want to run to the store to snap them up here. With a few snips (read below and you will know what I mean) the stickers took center stage on my cards.

I put the green banner & the heart on white paper and trimmed the edges.

A little distress ink gives these beautiful papers a different look. Personal preference for sure. Here’s the snip…snip part. These banners were perfect for my quick assembled cards but, I wanted more dimension. So with a quick snip I trimmed the “folded” part of the banner and used pop dots to raise the sentiment part for some nice dimension. (SEE THE PHOTO BELOW)
