Day 7. Video Watercolor & Distress Ink

Helloooo Friends! Can you believe that it’s Day 7 already?  Are you feeling the benefits that coloring can bring? My road trip kick off was in Edinburgh and it was such a lovely group of women …. magical really.  The trait that I noticed is most are afraid to be fearless with color. My wish for you is that if you desire more color to go for it. Be fearless.

My distress inks were calling my name so out they came. The palette that I love to use with my distress ink you can find here.

My first choice to color skin is copic markers and distress inks are my second choice. Trying to step out of my comfort zone a little with purple highlights in her hair. I stamped “Thinking of You Bella” with some black ink on my fav bright pre cut white watercolor paper … a great time saver for me! Here I colored her up with markers and here is video using copics.

Instead of messing with a background I just used the coordinating die cut to made a shaped card by scoring the back of the die cut & glueing it on to the front. What do you think of the purple hair highlights?

Please know that every single time you visit my blog I am grateful! Until tomorrow. Hugs, Kathy

Since you asked: I didn’t even notice the purple until I read that you used it! It brightens up the dark hair color, but it’s very subtle. I like it.

I have to say, since I met you and since you gave me that card with those words on it, I have been fearless. I’ve been scared to try, unsure if the result is really worth it, but I’ve been doing, and in doing so, I’ve enjoyed my colouring so much more. I am so hoping you come back again so all my friends who didn’t make it can come and be inspired too. I LOVE your Stamping Bella and I love the purple highlights in her hair xx

Great coloring and video Kathy. I love that you talked about neck and hand positioning, so important and little things that can prevent bigger things that bring patients to me. I haven’t time to post anything I’ve colored, I’m making cards for October, I need to make 9 Birthday cards, and have already made 3 anniversary cards. I’m going to be leaving for another trip soon, so have to get them done before I leave. Can’t wait to see you in November! Thanks for inspiring us to color.

What a gorgeous card! So clever how you created the shape using the stamp itself.

I am not a ‘Bella’ like you are but I love how you colored this. I also commented on the Stamping Bella site. I’ve noticed that on the Stamping Bella site they always do hair the way I wouldn’t do it, like adding purple to the hair. If you notice on all of Stamping Bella;s Stamps, when they show how they should be colored on the package which I follow sometimes but mostly I don’t, there is always a color in the hair that isn’t in a lot of people’s hair, like mine. I don’t have purple in my hair, its brown, however, I like to know that if I wanted to, I could put purple in my Bella’s hair if I so choose. I want to be a Bella! Can you get me in? LOL Love the coloring on your card!

  42. Doris Jones says

    September 11, 2017 at 11:44 am

You did an amazing colouring job on this card. Love all the added touches. When I was little I always outlined my image and darkened the lines. Weird eh! LOL! I always thought it added to my picture. No difference here, just adds to the detail which is so lovely.

    • Kathy Racoosin says

      September 20, 2017 at 11:33 am

I agree Doris! I’ve been doing t for years and although outlining isn’t necessary I really think it adds to the final image, too! Happy coloring!
