Hello Friends, What’s new? It’s Day 23. and we have come so far…. Today I didn’t have a lot of time and instead of picking up a coloring book I picked up a card panel that I water colored on Monday. Why you might ask?
Introducing the revised and finished card. Do you remember this card panel as seen in this post? I loved that the background was colored on top of the succulents using Power Poppy’s “Succulent Singles”. Once the background is dry you color the succulents …simple and easy.
The fact is simple, easy and loose isn’t my jam and I just had to revisit this and add some details to those nook and crannies that I always talk about in my videos. Plus some dots on that beautiful hello with a white gel pen.
Ok now you can see the difference right? Little tiny lines can make a big impact … I think … what do you think?
I made two panels and just started on this one. Two different green colored pencils and that’s all it took. So I encourage you to see if you need to add anything to your nooks and crannies lol. This is watercolor paper and I used regular pencils. You can add more watercoloring to those tiny areas but, I didn’t want to fuss with blending and water and all that.

WOW. This did make an impact. Who but you would have thought to take it up a notch and the WOW factor is awesome! I would be worried about ruining such a beautiful card if I played with it any more but you have given me the inspiration to at least try. After all, it is only paper, right? LOL {My beloved PAPER….}

I did the same thing the other day on a card I did, Kathy. I just needed to darken up certain areas….. Floral Delight & Floral Delight-Take 2. 😉 It DOES make SUCH A DIFFERENCE!!!! I LOOOOVE what you’ve done with this. The colors you’ve used are what make my heart pitter-patter! 😉 ((((HUGS!))))

It made a HUGE difference. I dont think I really ever paid attention to my nooks and crannies before. I love the dots on the hello. Oh, Kathy, you are so right! I LOVE nooks and crannies, and it sure made the world of difference. I remember when I took the Copic coloring classes with Debbie Olson. Her one tip for me was to add more contrast, and that’s what the nooks and crannies do. This beautiful card is now even more beautiful! Thanks for always inspiring me. Hugs!

I thought the original card was fine as is, that is, if you’re aiming for a quick and loose artsy style, but I have to agree that your added colouring does add more definition and is probably more YOU lol. I think many of us struggle with the fear of ruining our work when we get to a certain stage, but leaving it alone and coming back to it later is definitely sound advice. Sometimes I have a card or panel that I leave for months, because ‘something’ is missing or not quite right. Afterwards, it sometimes takes just a single glance to see how I can improve the design and finish the card.

Sometimes I have to remind myself, it is just paper Kathy – go back and alter until you’re pleased. LOL. I think most of us cardmakers have some card designs which sit around for awhile until we figure out what we are going to do to complete it. LOL Thanks for your sweet comments.

I love this soft and simple card front and by adding into the nooks and crannies you gave it a wow factor. Love it. I finally got caught up to the current day wow it’s a lot of work catching up when you have events that get in the way lol.

That makes me so happy that you’re enjoying the coloring challenge. That’s the most important part of the challenge to me. That we all make time for ourselves doing something that we love….which happens to be coloring. 🙂

I try to do some details but I always seem to ruin it, but I am also still learning, I used to be the person who only used 1 colored pencil and never even tried to blend or add any kind of little details. like I said I am learning so much from all of you, I will be a pro in no.
