Day 3. Adding Color w/ Pencils- Video

this one

Hello Friends! Welcome to DAY 3 of The 30 Day Coloring Challenge. (If you are new to the challenge or want to know more about it click here.)

IMG_0011

I am going to jump right in today. This little prickly scene was colored on the airplane and I was looking to add  more color when I got home. (Not the best lighting on an airplane.) So I have a video today on how I enhanced my coloring.

I love adding detail with this super fine tip marker.

IMG_0010

The adorable cactus set is from Craftin Desert Divas called, “Prickly” Keeping the card simple I was able to stamp a sentiment and pop my coloring with some foam tape. Easy to assemble and finish. ( the sentiment is from Clearly Besotted)

Using sharp colored pencils is key. I finally found a sharpener that I like. I love the look a stencil adds to a card and it’s quick and easy. This was the stencil I used in case you are curious. Any ink works great with stencils in my experience … today I used Hero Arts layering inks.

I picked up the sharpener at AC Moore & found this similar one.

Hi Kathy now I have to say I would never purchase stamps like this, but you have changed my mind on that I really LOVE this card!!! I do agree about always having a point on the pencil, and thanks for the tip to keep a light hand I have gotten the waxy look many times. I will have to start working with using white to add interest it looks great! Thank you again for doing this coloring challenge it is wonderful!

WOW – I have learnt SO MUCH from your video today – THANK YOU!!!
I am DEFINITELY going to get a better pencil sharpening and try working with a lighter hand … I confess that my 1st attempts using my prisma pencils was disappointing and now I know why 🙂

Great card. I only have a few Copic Marker, and I do not usually use them.
I forgot that I use prisma colour and copic markers together.
This gives me more shades of color.

Dull pencils drive me crazy! I’ve wondered about switching to Faber Castel pencils which aren’t waxy because of that darn wax build up. Love your cacti. You do such fabulous colouring you inspire us!

Such a sweet image with the hat and mustache! I love Prismacolor and Copics. I am coloring but am waiting for laptop from manufacturer. My other devices are so finicky that it might take me a few more days to properly blog and upload. Can you wait for my technology to catch up? ❤️

A beautiful card Kathy. I am not clear on what you used to color your pic before you used the the colored pencils. Was it Copics? Your shading is amazing!
Saw ALL of the videos yesterday from the hop and I was NOT disappointed. Actually, I was totally inspired!

    • Kathy Racoosin says

I love how you colored this one but then again, I love how you color everything. I have a sharpener that is supposed to only be for my chalk pencils but one time I needed to sharpen a pencil that wasn’t a chalk pencil. I loved the point it gave my pencils! The sharpener came with my chalk pencils so I can’t recommend you buy one unless you buy the pencils too. I love my colored pencils! I see you have the brand that I have. Great minds think alike! LOL
I have to watch your video and see what you did. One question though. Do Copics bleed on white card stock? One of my Copic markers bled on a card that I was entering in a coloring contest. The last time I used my markers I didn’t use that color and that was after I bought them. Next time I am going to try all of them out the minute I buy them no matter how busy I am.
I’ll bet you are glad you are back. I know I love to go away but I like coming home. Today I went to the doctor to see about my foot. I’m all bound up and in a boot. It hurts but I’ll live. I hate my foot being like this but it could have been so much worse!
