Altenew Paint-A-Flower: Carnations Release Blog Hop + Giveaway

Hello Friends, How are you? I haven’t stopped praying that you all are good, happy and well!

Today I am popping in to celebrate Altnew’s newest release for a Paint-A-Flower Blog Hop plus giveaways. It’s always exciting to see what the monthly Paint-A-Flower will be each month.  This month it’s the beautiful Carnation!

Click here to check out previous months.

To start at the beginning of the hop go to the Altenew Card Blog. If you are coming from the Altenew Card Blog you are in the right place. I am the second stop on the hop.

Included with the stamp is two color printed carnations that you can cut out to create cards or use as inspiration. I used one of these as a springboard for the colors on my card today. Thank you Altenew!

Even thought it’s “Paint-A-Flower” you can use any medium to color these pretty florals. My choice today is markers and pencils! To order the Carnation Outline Stamp Set click here.

After coloring the Carnations with markers I like to add finishing touches with pencils. I find it a time saver and more forgiving than adding highlights or shading with markers.

If you are interested in the Paint-A-Flower Monthly Subscription Plan click here.  This is a monthly subscription plan the Altenew Paint-A-Flower. When signed up, you are guaranteed a spot in their monthly Paint-A-Flower releases and will receive a set each month – at a specially discounted price! ($15.99 →$12.99)

Adding white pencil on some of the petals and under the sentiment made my coloring pop. One thing I do NOT do is pay attention to where the light is coming from. When adding the white I just go with the flow and I don’t over think where to add the white highlights.

Giveaway Prizes:

To celebrate this release, Altenew is giving away a $20 gift certificate to 3 lucky winners! Please leave a comment on the Altenew Card Blog by 9/27/2020 for a chance to win. Altenew will also draw a winner to receive a $15 gift certificate from EVERY designer’s blog from the blog comment  section on the blog hop list below. All winners will be announced on the Altenew Winners Page on 09/30/2020.

Special Offer: Altenew is running a special promotion to celebrate this release. Yes please! Get 20% off on the Soothe and Smooth Watercolor Paper Bundle from 9/22/2020 at 12:01 am est. until 9/23/2020 at 11:59 pm est.  (While supplies last. Not valid on previous purchases.)

Next on the hop is the oh so talented Erum Tasneem. Thank you so much for your visit it’s  always appreciated. Wishing you a good week. Hugs, Kathy

Ooh, Kathy, when I saw your name on the hop, I knew you’d come up with something lovely…and you did not disappoint! Your coloring is so gorgeous, and I love the card stock you used. It looks like more of a handmade paper than just the usual cardstock. If you have a chance to reply, can you let me know what it is? It adds so much to the natural feel of the piece, and I’m sure would be great for many floral images . Thanks as always, Kathy! Be well.

The cardstock color is the perfect foil for those wonderfully vibrant colored flowers to bring them front and center. Using a spotlight effect on the flowers by adding the white on the petals and puddled white under the sentiment, you further intensified the focus to these lovely flowers. I am taking away so many ideas – Thank You!

Oh my gosh, your carnations are so beautiful! I love how you did that with the white outlines around the flowers. I’ve tried this with my white Prismacolor pencils but it doesn’t show up much. I’ve tried the white gel pens that come with my gel pen sets & they don’t work so well either. I want to get mine to look like yours! I’ve been doing tons of coloring & right now I am making greeting cards with coloring of course, for Matthew & Gunner Nelson, rock star Ricky Nelson’s sons. They gave me an address to send it & I will post what I’ve done here & on Facebook. I have to do this blog hop as I haven’t done one in a while & they are fun to do. I’ve been so busy with life & none of us is sick, thank the Lord, but I color all the time! Mom has therapy twice a week for her knees so for an hour twice a week I get to color! I love it! You always do the best coloring but I’ve been getting better & better at it myself & it’s all because of you & all the other colorists I see. Oh yeah & God too! I don’t have any carnation stamps & I like this one a lot!
