Day 4. Easy Trick – How to Transfer a Sentiment

Hello Friends! Happy 4th of July and happy belated Canada Day! Everything is so weird right now and I hope you have a good holiday despite everything.

Yesterday I mentioned the illustration of Sandy Boone’s powerful ladies “You Matter to Me”.  Sandy Boone from Three Room Studio she’s such an awesome person so full of life and her illustrations are a reflection of that. Sandy also sells beautiful and clever stamps. She colors like nobody’s business! Check out her shop here and her Instagram here.

For my coloring today I downloaded Sandy’s digi called, “You Matter to Me” and printed the ladies on regular old printer paper. Click here and it’s FREE!

Further down this post I am going to tell you my trick to get the phrases on the shirts.

Here are the shirts without the powerful statements. My dilemma was how to get the statements on the shirts.

The top part of the photo is the finished girls using my Copic markers. I didn’t have many brown markers with me so I had to use what I had. “Color Plucking” at it finest!

Since the paper was super thin I decided to finish up my coloring with my trusty colored pencils. I used a dark grey to start the afro. Then I used some brown and made scribble marks around the grey. Lots of scribbles of color to complete the afro. Easier than I thought it would be.

When I  saw Sandy’s coloring of the girls  (after mine was finished) I was reminded of the powerful sayings that come with the digi download. The printer paper I colored the trio on was mounted on two layers of paper that I wasn’t even going to try to unmount. After printing and trimming the sentiments I colored the back of them with pencil. Place the sentiment on the shirt then traced the sentiment with your pencil pressing hard. You are transferring the sentiment on the shirt. Remove the paper and trace over the pencil you drew with a black marker. See the photo below.

Have a great day and I look forward to seeing you tomorrow. Always a big thanks for your visit. Hugs, Kathy
