Day 29. Marker Before Pencils

Hello Friends! Welcome to Day 29. How are you doing? Is your week off to a good start? I hope you all are staying healthy and safe and that’s always my daily wish for you.

Mama Elephant’s “Me Any My Robot” has always been on my must color list. I love that it’s a good one for the men in your family, friends or co-worker. I am so grateful that I had the matching die cuts because I messed up big  time. That’s what happens when you color until  2am.

The Simon Says Stamp “Rose Trio” is what saved the day, balanced my card and gave me that pop I was wanting. It’s so amazing how quick a stencil can be inked and poof you have a gorgeous flower.

During this particular 30 Day I challenged myself to try a new paper and I have really enjoyed coloring on the grey toned paper. Whenever I use pencils I always color with marker first because I think it saves time and one less layer of color is completed. You might note I also used a grey marker on the left side of the image and “under” all things.

A few of the images that I have been posting have been a two day process like todays image. I was up until 2 am coloring this and when I had time to sit and finish I realized I had a problem. My goal was to challenge myself to not line all the images up in a row on my card panel.

The robot foot needs to go behind the cactus to work? Either way I texted a photo to an artist friend to see if I could salvage this. She suggested I turn the foot into part of the cactus. Ummm no, that’s to much work I said.

Two plus hours later my card was finally finished. I fussy cut the robot and glued him on the matching die cut.  Stamped the sweet tiny tot again and colored her. Stamped a sentiment on the part of the card I cut off. The.End. lol one layer cards are  so much easier for me.

See you tomorrow and thank YOU for your visit. Hugs, Kathy

Might give the grey tone ago, do like the robot holding the little girl high in his hands. Gorgeous work on the colouring of books & crannies as always Kathy. I have actually spent all day, yeah all day stamping out images, practicing & improving my distress oxide blending. Must admit I have invested n the Altenew big blending tool that comes in a little pod of its own, awesome results even for me. Tomorrow; pain willing I’m going to be doing lots of colouring with my zigs & pencil crayons. Stay safe, healthy & most importantly happy creating beautiful art x

    Dear Kathy,
I can tell that you were up until the wee hours. Me Any My Robot?
I have enjoyed seeing your projects. I have been working on various things of my own. Maybe I will send you a couple if I can find a snail mail address for you. My work is not even in the same universe as yours, but I am starting to watercolor (ordered Altenew’s watercolor pen sets as well as Gansai Tambi watercolors) and have always loved colored pencils. I’m so glad that you did not use Copic markers all the time as I don’t have any. I have tons of other brands of markers but missed the whole Copic madness and find now that they are very expensive to start collecting.

I did not understand this line: ” I always color with marker first because I think it saves time and one less layer of color is completed. ” I would have thought “one MORE layer of color is completed,” but what do I know? Not much. You are the coloring guru, after all. Maybe you can explain that you meant “more” instead of “less” or explain how adding marker gives “less” color to the project. I’m at a loss to understand.

Trying to stay cool in PA –
    Lori

Do you know what I need to do besides get a new computer (my O and N key don’t work unless I use this tiny keyboard on the side)? To fussy cut something out & d0 what you did. While what you did is n0t my thing, the r0b0t & all, the fussy cut thing could be. I just c0l0red a very pretty card f0r my m0m. I love the stamp & it stamped s0 clean & crisp. I didn’t c0l0r the card the way the flower should be, I made it multi c0l0red. I’m using the zero key f0r the 0 key in case y0u were wondering. Great j0b!

    • Kathy Racoosin says

      July 30, 2020 at 3:28 pm

Ha! Pretty resourceful to use the zero key! Hope you enjoy fussy cutting.
