Hero Arts 45th Anniversary Blog Hop w/ Gina K. Designs

Hello Friends, How are you? Are you ready for the weekend?  I sure am, and I know a terrific way for you to start it off…with a Gina K. and Hero Arts Birthday Partnership hop! If you’ve been away from the blogosphere, Hero Arts is celebrating their 45th year making crafty people happy.  If you have arrived here from my beautiful, talented crafty friend Kristina Werner’s blog, you are in the right place. (You are  going to faint when you see what Kristina did …. do you have smelling salts?) To start at the beginning of the hop go to the Hero Arts blog.

Now without further ado, please take a look at this incredible stamp set that is the result of Hero Arts partnering with Gina K. Designs! Look how pretty and those of you who know me …. you know I love this! The illustration, the size and the open petals are great for blending color. I also love the fonts for the sentiments yes please!

For my project today all I have is my coloring and I hope that’s ok. My Aunt Carol lives in AZ and she’s 93. Last week I spoke to her on the phone & I have never heard her sound so awful so my hubby and I left a day later to fly up to spend some time with her.

This “Friendship Blooms” stamp set is oh so lovely and I surely hope I did it justice. I love Hero Arts and Gina K. Designs so much!

I’m still here in Arizona and thoroughly enjoyed painting this at my Aunts  house but, I don’t have the supplies to finish this properly … that’s my story. I will share a photo from AZ at the very bottom of my post if you are interested.

If your preference is to paint a background I recommend doing the background first and keep in mind it doesn’t need to look perfect. You want it to look hand painted.

Cover up the image with some scrap paper if you want to add a few splatters. If you do the splatters at the end it’s not necessary to cover up your coloring.

In case you are wondering what paints I am using today you can check out this post here. Because the paints are concentrated I like to put the paint in a palette and water down the color. Usually I use this multi media mat but, I am not at home and had to limit my supplies.

Since we left fairly quick I didn’t pack any colored pencils. I usually always travel with  my Chameleon pencils and I was kicking myself that I  forgot to throw them in my bag. Can you  guess what I did? Yes I went out and purchased another set. It’s so easy to add those finishing details once my watercoloring is dry.

You can see the subtle difference the pencils make on my coloring. Like I always say the tip must be  S.H.A.R.P.!

Thank you all so very much for joining us!  For a chance to win Friendship Blooms, leave comments across the hop on or before August 4th.  A winner will be drawn at 11:59pm PST on August 4th.  Your next stop on the hop is the beautiful and oh so funny Laura Bassen.
In case you get lost along the way, here’s the hop order:

What a great stamp. I love the space that the flowers have for painting/colouring also. Too many stamps are too small to colour and allow for good detail work. You have certainly brought these blooms to life and the pencils made a huge difference in the finished product.
It sounds like your presence was all your Aunt needed to make her feel better. I hope you are having a wonderful time with her.
