Blog Hop & Giveaway

Hello Friends, How are you today? I am super excited to be hopping along with Simon Says Stamp & friends to celebrate the exciting new release “Encouraging Words“! Yes Please!

To start at the beginning of the hop go to the Simon Says Stamp blog. If you are coming from the INCREDIBLY talented Debby Hughes blog you are in the right place.

For the hop I created a set of cards and a bonus card! Love the flexibility of this release and the happy, encouraging & fun stamps and dies that put a smile on your face.

Mini cards are always nice to have on hand to tuck in someones wallet, lunch, backpack, workout bag or purse etc. I had fun combining the stitched alphabet stamp set with “Encouraging Animals” … F.U.N. !

Two layers of glossy accents were added to the cool cat’s sunglasses. Copic blending solution on a rag gave him some texture to resemble some fur.

The rag technique was added to the bear. Glossy accents were added twice to the toucan’s beak. Adding a pop of color on the inside of the cards is something I always try to do.

Suzy’s watercolor cards are always packed in my travel bag and I am excited when new ones are released. Love these “Fruit Puns” OMG cute right! Orange you glad!! If you want to check more of Suzy’s adorable coloring cards click  here. These images are super easy to watercolor because they are nice and large for easy blending. I pulled out my Zig markers to get these bold results.

The cards are one layer and I wanted some dimension so I cut the card horizontally. To finish off my card … Lucy’s sequin mixes do the trick. They are always my favorite because of the variety and colors. The final touch is adding some faux stitching with a white gel pen.

These cuts were made with  my paper trimmer carefully watching the blade so I knew when to stop. The rest I cut with scissors.

Once the oranges are dry I colored with a medium & light blue zig coloring around the image … then I add water to blend out the color with my brush.  Adding a bit of dark blue in the nooks & crannies makes the image pop even more. In this video I explain how I like to color a background with Zigs.

Using a sharpie fine tip marker to color in the letters made them stand out. Foam tape was added to the orange part of my card for more dimension.

GIVEAWAY: Simon Says stamp is giving away a $25 coupon to every stop on the hop. To quality just leave comments on the blogs. Thank you Simon for 12 chances to win!! All winners will be posted on the Simon Says Stamp blog this Tuesday.

NEXT on the hop is the lovely and talented Yana Smakula !! Thank you for your visit today it’s always appreciated and have a great weekend. Hugs, Kathy

P.S. Simon is having another hop on Saturday so be sure to to visit the Simon blog on Saturday for more inspiration!

Hi Kathy ~ While my kids were growing up I was always sticking notes in their lunchboxes and would leave notes here and there for them to find when they went off to college. These are perfect for leaving RAK notes and those alphabet stamps are just, plain fun. Your card, of course, is beautiful (I think I have to return my Zigs…they don’t work as well as yours do…lol!). Thanks for the inspiration and I hope you have a wonderful weekend. ~HUGS~

LOL keep practicing with your Zigs. Also, the type of paper you use them on makes a HUGE difference. Try them on strathmore bristol smooth paper (relatively inexpensive and at most big box stores) or on the Ranger Distress watercolor cardstock. Really makes a gigantic difference!! Thanks as always, Maggie!

These take me back to when my son was in school. I loved to tuck notes in his lunchbox, but they weren’t nearly this much fun! But I did send some daily notes along with him, his wife, and their son when they went to Brazil on a mission trip recently. They were back-packing, so we took a small photo album with an encouraging word, Bible verse, or encouragement for all three of them from my grand-girls and me. It was such a fun project to do with the girls. Thanks so much for the smile today!
