Day 29. This and That – Giveaway

Since you all loved the background yesterday and I still had all my supplies out I did the same thing today. I hope I have convinced you all to try the rag technique. If you do give me a shout out so I can see what you did with your copic blending solution and a rag.

Your Next Stamp has a great variety of adorable and pretty .. love. Todays stamp set is called, “Little Darling Mermaid” and the sentiments are spectacular. I wasn’t so happy with the way I colored her hair so I added the smile to hide some of the hair. I just have to point out this sweet set “All Aboard Spring Carts” from Your Next Stamp … OMG how cute!

I started out coloring the water with some copic markers and then used the rag technique. Once it was dry I added some color pencil and white gel pen accents. The mound of sand was colored the same way. A circle die cut was cut with post it paper and placed on top of the mermaid to create an easy and quick moon. Then I used my distress ink and added some splashes of water with a brush. Once dry I added white dots to the splash marks.

Mini cards are so fun to give and receive … I hope to create many more of these. This frame and die cut set from Newtons Nook called, “Garden Window” is so fun to color and fantastic to make some quick mini cards with. (I have this set to giveaway today)

I have to point out this adorable little racoon in an airplane from Newtons Nook… like how adorable!!

Adding some eyelash lines and foam tape to the oval to give it some pop. For the center of the flowers I added some glossy accents and poured on some flower soft. Love that texture.

GIVEWAY: I have TWO giveaways from two wonderful companies …. Newtons Nook and Your Next Stamp. Win a goodie bag including two stamps from each company. A random winner will be announced a few days after the challenge. To qualify to win just say hello again. (I try to make it as easy as possible for you all to qualify.)

Thank so much for your frequent visits I am blessed. A big thanks to Your Next Stamp & Newtons Nook for the giveaway!  SEE You tomorrow. Hugs, Kathy

Darling mermaid and I love how you colored her, Kathy! The floral panel looks great too – the background looks like denim! I actually tried your rag technique today only my “rag” was a paper towel – LOL – sorta worked….

    • Kathy Racoosin says

      April 2, 2017 at 1:31 pm

So happy you tried the rag technique, Linda! Paper towel does work somehow but a small piece of a nubby rag, like an old face cloth, works best. Thank you for your sweet comments.

Both cards are lovely. I do like the darker background and cloth technique.. I do this with a terry scrap on animals. I also have a denim scrap I do for pants.. It does give a great added texture look to the card.
It’s sad that this is almost over.. It’s been great seeing your projects.. I do subscribe so I will be seeing more : )
Thanks for all you do and inspiration.

Nice cards. Your mermaid card is adorable. I like how you added white dots to the waves; that simple little touch really adds to the card. Thank you, I would never have thought to do that!

Hello, Kathy! 2 new stamp companies to check out. You are going to bankrupt me yet you know! LOL To win that nice giveaway you are giving away would be so nice! Thank you for doing that for us. I appreciate it more then you will ever know.
I love that adorable little mermaid! As for her hair, you hid it so I can’t see how bad or not that it looks like. I’ll just take your word for it that you didn’t like how it came out so that is why you hid it. I’ve done that. When I make a mistake or do something I don’t like, I try to cover it up. If I don’t say anything, no one will usually notice or at least they don’t say they did. A friend of mine who hand marbles paper will give me some of his paper that have what he calls mistakes on them that he would have thrown away. I have to look and sometimes I can’t tell what’s wrong with them. I always take them and I’m happy that he gives them to me. His mistakes are my treasures.
Your flowers look like some flowers I embroidered on my jeans. The whole card looks like jeans! I love it!
2 great cards and 2 new places to find stamps and treasures. I love it!
