Vellum Yes please & blog hop

believe-in-the-season-600x263-hop

Hello Friends, How are you today? All good?

Me? I am super excited to be participating in Simon Says Stamp blog hop featuring the new “Believe in the Season” release. I really think you will be as pleased as I was with this fun and festive release. To start at the beginning of the hop go to the Simon Says Stamp blog here.

img_1605

The second I saw “Winter Flowers” I knew I had to get out my markers and color it up… so I have two cards for you today. Speaking of markers they are on sale now a lovely 25% off. It’s a good time to snap up a few markers. (Use code COPICSALE)

img_1602

First up is a blank card .. festive but, it can work for any season & another reason to love this stamp set. I don’t know about you but, I am always searching for my blank cards.

img_1603

I drew some stems, cut and colored them. I also fussy cut the berry cluster, popped it with foam tape and added some white gel pen accents. I colored the twine to match my card.

img_1584

After coloring a simple background I added some heavy weight vellum to soften the colors so I could pop the berry cluster on my card.

img_1601

For the second card I loved coloring the background using “Winter Flowers” again. I am so in love with this large “Believe” sentiment. Swoon! and to think that there is a matching die cut … that’s in my shopping cart.

Check out my video here. If you get my posts in your inbox …  please click on the title to go to the blog post if my video is all wonky. (Sometimes the video covers up most of my post and photos.)

img_1604

Lucy’s Little Things sequins are always the perfect finishing touch to my cards. I glued the sequins with this. The twine was colored with a marker to match my card.

img_1577

Just a little shading and white accents can really enhance your coloring.

img_1578

Just in case you asked here are my marker colors.

Kathy, I was reading all the comments from everyone today and it is so cool how EVERYONE comments on how amazing , gorgeous, beautiful, ( you get the point ) your coloring is. You have this amazing ” talent” for coloring that is untouchable, I was trying for a while to figure out how to word that, we all know there is such amazing talent out there in the craft world that blows us all away, and we all just soak it up learning from them, they are all so wonderful, I didn’t want to sound like I was putting any of them down because I think they all rock, BUT GIRL…Your coloring and the way you ” think out side the box ” on some of your projects, I think you should have your own craft show, or write some craft books, girl you are so meant for more bigger things in this craft world, I think everyone here would agree with me. You rock Kathy.

You are the coloring master (or would you prefer “mistress”?). It is relaxing just to watch you color and explain and make the delightful images come to life. Vellum has always been a favorite “embellishment” of mine, so I’m happy to see more card makers using it. I hope your headache and hangover have gone by the wayside. I had to chuckle at your truthfulness in saying you had a hangover. Just keepin’ it real, huh? Not many would say that. Just one more reason I enjoy you, your videos and your stunning projects so much.

So, now I want to add Copic markers to my list for Christmas!!! Love how you used them for shading…gives me Ideas…Which basic set of Copic marker colors would you start with?

    • Kathy Racoosin says

      October 31, 2016 at 8:20 pm

That’s dificult to answer since there are so many starting sets of different sizes. Go for the set that has the most colors you gravitate towards. Do make sure you get a “0” blender marker. I also recommend you think about which type of marker you’d like. Copic Original or Copic Sketch. I personally prefer the Sketch. The sketch holds more ink and won’t roll off your working area. Hope this helps. 🙂

Oh my gosh, the coloring and the stamp are amazing! I need to get more Copics and then I need win lotto or something big to buy them all! After all that, I need to learn how to use them so they don’t look like regular old markers because I know what they can look like. Friends of mine have them, you included, so if I could learn how to use them properly, that would be great! I love how you used the vellum on the front of your card and fussy cut that one thing out. That is such a cool card and since I don’t need a die cutter to make that, only a pair of scissors, I can do that! I’m going to save this under my crafts folder so I can look at it later. I’ll have to get some vellum for this.
I have to tell you something. I’ve been doing a lot of coloring, especially for my Christmas cards and in my coloring books. I took one of my coloring books to The Big E, the 5th largest fair in the country to show 2 people. One is a man who does chalk portraits of people at the fair and one is a guy who demonstrates how to do 18th century paper marbling. Both of them called me an artist! They said all of my colors go so well together and the pages I showed them were beautiful! You would love John who does paper marbling and I can give you his e-mail addy if you want some paper. He sells what he makes and it’s beautiful. I should know because I have some and he lets me also make some!

What can I say Kathy… that has not already been said. Both cards are stunning – the colours are so rich and vibrant and I love that the vellum actually enhances rather than hides all your beautiful colouring, especially when you pop some more flowers on top. Just beautiful! I really love both options, but the vellum panel stole my heart as I love the dimension of the extra flowers on top. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with in the challenge next week 🙂
