Day 9. Coloring w/ Gel Markers & Winners

this one

Hello Friends! Welcome to DAY 9. of The 30 Day Coloring Challenge. How are you? Today will be my last post with black in the background for a bit lol.

IMG_4200

Today I fell in love with Souffle gel markers (they are opaque) and a stamp from Concord & 9th called, “Grateful”. Check out my five minute video below. If you like it a thumbs up is always appreciated.

Online Card Classes has a new class called Heat Wave and it just started. I was inspired to get out my heat gun after creating a card for their class.

I was browsing the isles in my local art store and came upon “Black Chalk”  paper. It’s a heavy weight and perfect for embossing in white!

IMG_4184

If you have stray powder on the black paper don’t worry about it…  it’s easy to hide with the white marker.

TODAY’S GIVEAWAY!  A goodie bag including a Concord & 9th stamp set. Winner will be announced on July 19th. All you need to do is say “HI” in the comment area. Good luck 🙂

WINNERS ANNOUNCED!! SIX WINNERS TO Online Card Classes. Each winner gets to select which class they want to take for free. Winners were selected from the blog hop here.

Hi Kathy!! Beautiful feathers!! And I must admit…when you mentioned black chalk paper I was like what…never heard of it!! (I must be living under a rock!) I’ve know about the chalk paint but somewhere along the way I missed the paper!! Karhy I must tell you you 30 day challenges are wonderful!! I wanted to share this with you…I’ve always been interested in art! Loved it all! But you know sometimes you get stuck and can’t do a things…but this challenge has been great…even if I can think what I want to do I can (always could) just sit down and color!! Got me a couple adult coloring books and I’m set!! Thanks Kathy!! You are a wonderful inspiration!!

Hi! I am enjoying this challenge so much. So far I have done some colouring every day and I have been using my Copic markers that have sat collecting dust for too long. Each time I have used them I have learnt something new about them and I am sure to continue using them more because of this challenge. Thank you for the inspiration.

Hi! I love your challenges, Kathy. I don’t get to color every day because of a severe back injury that keeps me in bed most of the time, but I have gotten to color once, which was more than the last challenge! Plus, there’s still lots of time left, so I’m determined to get a card made and share it! I love living vicariously through everyone else’s creations. It makes me feel like I’m still part of this hobby community, even though I don’t get to participate as much as I would like to. Thank you for being a wonderful hostess!

Hi, hi, hi, hi, hi and did I mention hi! LOL
I love the black on white or white on black and I haven’ heard of chalk paper either. I remember when gel pens first came out they had a pad to use them with that had black paper. I loved the gel pens but every time I bought some in a package, a bunch of them didn’t work. No matter what I did, the pens didn’t work. When you have an ink pen that doesn’t work, and I have a few colored pens that are purple and pink and they don’t work, you light the end with a match or lighter and they work, usually. You can’t do that with a gel pen. I read somewhere to shake the pen up, which I did with one of them. I got ink either all over our car or me. I’m so weary of gel pens now and I still love them. Any ideas for me?
I love your card. It’s so pretty and I love feathers. The white really pops on the black! I had to do a black on white card swap and I found some handmade paper at Target I think. It came out so cool! If I can find the card I made on my computer because it’s been awhile, I will post it. I think I will make a few black on white cards for people. Thanks for the idea and thanks for showing us your beautiful card!
You should see how colorful I look today! Okay, I didn’t color my clothes but they were colorful! I also colored my nails and boy are they colorful too! I am one colorful person today!

I have a friend who would like to know more about using stencils and the various techniques one can use them with. I love the Soufflé pens and have had them for awhile. I thought you were going to show us how to emboss with them. . . Lol! I LOVE the result you got and will definitely give this a go, I haven’t ever used them with embossing powder before. FYI, when I got my pens I got in touch with Sakura about those little plastic balls or tips on the pen nib and they said to discard it, not to put it back on the pen. I just wanted to let you know because I had saved them as well, but the company says not to use them.

    Love ya,
    Maureen

Hi Hi Hi Kathy!!! I am enjoying your black background cards and these feathers are super pretty! I am looking to pick up some feathers as they seem really useful to have in your stash, and I think these may be the prettiest I have come across. Plus I also don’t have any Concord & 9th and I like to spread my spending around and support all companies!

I have not heard of black chalk paper or souffle pens, where have I been! Fabulous card and thank you for sharing it with us.

Beautiful card!! Love the feathers…I have not one feather stamp yet, but may have to get one after watching your video!! Also was avoiding chalkboard paper because thought it might be a surface that didn’t work well with stamps or markers. Thanks for the very informative video about the gel markers…they look very bright & will have to investigate further!!

Hi Kathy, Slowly but surely you have inspired me to TRY to color. I’m over here from a friend’s blog Sandy @ wwwstampwithsandy.com and also Jennifer McGuire’s blog. So, all I did was watch your videos every day and today I think I’ll try. I have a brand new set of Brush Markers by Rikota that I bought on a whim, on sale @ Barnes & Noble about two years ago. I will see if they are dried out. Ha. Ha. Thanks for sharing your passion with us all.
    🙂
