Hello Friends, Welcome to Simon Says Stamp “Among the Stars” blog hop. As usual Simon brings us another exciting and versatile new release BUT… wait until you hear about the GIVEAWAY…love it!! More on that below.
Today I have a video to share my process on creating this card. It’s a star-tastic stamp set called, “Shine On” . My goal is to give you another way to look at the stamps.
Simon’s stencil “Large Dots” is an oldie but a goodie & it’s on my must have list. Vellum is used in the background to mute it but, more on that in the my video.

This sun was screaming to be colored so I wasn’t going to argue. I used some of my older stamps to pull this look together. This for the leaves, this for the stem and this for the flower pot. If you like the card take a peek around your craft room and I am sure you will find something that will work for the pot, leaves and stem.
Using the post it tape and distress ink is what worked to create my striped background then I added a layer of vellum on top.

You are so clever and I always learn from you and your videos. Loved how you tackled lining up all the die cut pieces….note to self.
Your ears should have been burning yesterday….my crafting friend came over to make some cards and we made one similar to your recent Altenew one with the black foam shadow and the pink circle background. I showed her how you use the nubby rag and the 0 blending solution to mottle the copic coloring….it worked perfectly. Of course, I gave you the credit for the technique and the idea for the card….ours wasn’t exactly like yours since I didn’t have the same stamps and dies, but, surprisingly, I had something very similar. The cards turned out very nicely. Thank you.

As to my summer – I’m going on my first cruise – ever – with my husband to the caribbean – this summer – he says it is a one and only trip because he will never get on a boat again, but I’m hoping that once he’s on it he’ll love it – I am soooooo excited. This set is my fave and I just love how unique your cards are from using the set! Love, love what you did with the second card! Thanks for being you and please know I’ve learned so much from your videos tfs.
I love the colours and styling of these cards. The second “Aztec-inspired” card is so cool. I also love your colouring through the stencil and around the aperture on the first card. There’s only one thing I would have changed and that is to stamp the sentiment with a light grey ink before embossing in clear, just to make it easier to read. 🙂
Great cards. Love the vellum as a background on the first card and the tip for adhering the smaller pieces. The colors used on the second card are marvelous.

Kathy, do you ever impress yourself? You know, “Man, I’m good!” =) That’s a weird question (and rhetorical), but you always blow me away with your cards/projects and your colors. I sometimes impress myself when something comes right (ha-ha) so if I had YOUR talent, I would amaze myself and probably not be able to sleep for months. My head would probably explode. ha-ha.
