My Favorite Things- Feeling Dotti

IMG_9889

Hello Friends, How are you? It’s a busy time of year and I appreciate you visiting …especially today. My Favorite Things has blessed me with an honor and asked me to guest design for them today and Friday. 🙂

The Pure Innocence stamps from My Favorite Things have been a long time favorite of mine and it’s super fun to play with the new release. (If you click here you can see some of my vintage cards created with the Pure Innocence stamps)  I find these sweet images good for beginners or the advanced colorist and I love how the personalities shine through the stamps as you color them.

Love this one called, “Dashing By” The texture on the sweater was achieved by adding lots of dots as you see in the mini tutorial below. The die cut tree has an oh so beautiful sparkly and textured shine thanks to rock candy distress stickles. The Radical Stitched Circle really stands out especially with the pattern created with this stencil for the background. I used a B00 and B02 to highlight the snow.

After adding the dots and more dots with my alcohol markers I used some blending solution to mute the dots. Rock candy distress stickles were generously added to the tree.  (I didn’t use the solution on the sweater)

Such a sweet girl and I love the birds included in “Season Tweeting’s“. I decided to use one of the “The Winter Wonderland” stamps to create a “toy” candy shop for the cardinal to perch on. (I cut the opening in the door. Wouldn’t it be fun to have another bird peeping out of the door?) The sentiment is a die called, “Pop Up Holiday Greetings“. It’s not often I used patterned paper but, I loved the chevron pattern & the colors in this 6×6 paper pad.

The brush tip on the Copic markers is perfect to create dots. Just hold the tip down and pause on the paper with the tip and a dot will appear. The longer you hold the tip the larger the dot. Add color around your dots and you have a fun pattern!

If you live in the US I wish you a blessed Thanksgiving with lots of love and happiness. Thanksgiving or not I wish you all many blessings with a life full of love and happiness. A super big THANKS to My Favorite Things and the very warm welcome on their blog. I  will be back Friday with a GIVEAWAY 🙂 and announce the winners to my other two giveaways. Thanks again and feelin’ blessed . Big Hugs, Kathy

Well, Duh! And all this time ( about three weeks ) I’ve been drawing dots?? I’ve got so much to learn about these Copic markers! They are not like anything I’ve ever used before. Love the effect you achieved on the tree Kathy. It’s the sweater technique that blew me away.. “hold marker in place”
