One stamp two ways

IMG_5208

Hello Friends, It’s finally Friday! Are you as happy about Friday as I am? For some reason this past week seemed like it was in slow motion. I was lucky though to play around with some more of Neat & Tangled Stamps. It’s an honor to be featured three Friday’s this month on the Neat & Tangled Blog.

For my first card I used the stamp set called “Scandinavian Flowers“. I stamped the grass a few times with memento black ink & colored the flowers with some bold copic markers. I added some more grass with some “feathering” strokes. The sentiment was stamped in black dye ink.

The background was screaming for a stencil so I used the “Festive Chevron” stencil from Simon Says. After placing the stencil on top of my card I inked on top of it with “sea glass” ink using a dauber. (I feel like I have better control with a dauber). Do you have a storage solution for your daubers? I like to store them in this storage case.

For my second card I used the same grass but, vertically this time for a fun graphic twist. What do you think?

IMG_5206

I stamped the grasses with some pink dye ink from Simon Says Stamp and colored the “grass” with Copic markers. The sentiments were stamped with pink and black ink. To finish my card I had to add some white dots with a gel pen and I layered the front panel on my card with some foam.  I hope you have time to visit the Neat & Tangled Blog and say hello. Great cards Kathy, VERY pretty!
I DO have a storage solution for my daubers. I had a pretty decorative box with an attached lid that was the perfect size to hold 48 daubers. I made little dividers for in between each row and made a colour chart for on the inside of the lid. I then labelled each one to coincide with the chart on the cover. They all have their own spot! (What can I say, I LOVE to be organized!)

Such clever cards, Kathy. Love how you’ve made the flowers pop on your first card and your graphic card is so much fun! I bought the dauber storage box some time ago and love it.
    Have a wonderful weekend!

Wow!! I love how you created such different looks with the same stamp!! The way you used the stencil is so fun on the first card. I LOVE how you flipped the stamp and used it that way for the second. Really great design!

I love how you used two the same stamps but in 2 different ways. I would not have thought to do that at all. The colors are so cool too. I love to see how you color because it gives me ideas for what I want to do when I color. Thank you!

I have a question for you or for anybody on this site. I have a box of Crayola Crayons, the 96 color box. Seeing as how I love colors, when I got the box I just sat there and stared at it once I got it opened. It looked so beautiful I almost didn’t want to use any of them. Once you use them, they are not as sharp as they are from the box. My box has a sharpener on the back but they never are as sharp as they are when you first get them. They are harder to color with when they aren’t that sharp. How do I get them as sharp as they are when you first open the box?

i thought i commented on this and apparently i didn’t (oh the old age is creeping up on me!) The colors in your cards – in particular the first one – are always so vibrant and i love that stencilled bg. You are the stencil queen! and the second card – you’re just so clever! you always have a cool and interesting takes on things- and you always find a way to add your own signature to a card -so it says ‘kathy’.

Hi Kathy!! You have such a unique way of looking at stamps and doing AMAZING things with them! Both are great, but I LOVE the graphic one…

  26. Janelle Graham says

With your first card I thought you had coloured and stamped onto a sheet of acetate and used this over the stencilled background. This was because your colours are so vibrant. Maybe it’s something I’ll try myself sometime. 🙂 Love both of your cards – amazing!
