Day 20. copic cheats video & white dots 101

challenge_graphic-4-650

Hello Friends, I can’t believe that it’s DAY 20. ! My how time flies! Today instead of finishing the project I posted yesterday I created a smaller one layer card with a video using Mama Elephants “Freestyle Florals“! (I still have regrets on not purchasing the coordinating dies).

CLICK HERE TO WATCH THE VIDEO IN HD or to see it larger

I thought you all might want to see how I did the background & a copic cheat. Plus a Gel Pen 101 blurb in the video.

Once I finished the video I decided to stamp some “berries” and add white dots to them. The sentiment was stamped on vellum (it’s back in stock…yay) . I cut a skinny piece of cardstock and colored it with my copics for the final touch on my card. Thanks for being excited about the challenge and all of your lovely comments. See you tomorrow! Hugs, Kathy

Hi Kathy, Just wanted to tell you that this coloring thing has been a blast! At first I thought that I didn’t have time, but I’ve tried to make this about FUN, not pressure myself into believing that I “HAVE TO CREATE A CARD” , So some days I doodle/scribble on the calendar while on the phone; some days I just sit on the floor with my 3 y/o grandson and we color Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles; and then some days I can sit quietly in my craft room and “create a card”. But this challenge of yours has made me relax and enjoy the coloring. Thanks so much for reminding me why I started crafting in the first place – it’s fun!!! Now, if I could just remember if Leo is the Ninja Turtle that wears blue, or is that Raph?

Thanks for making my night Kelly!!! Your ninjas were awesome. Hugs 🙂

This card is gorgeous. Love the bright colors and the details with the white gel pen.

I have TWO white gel pens the same brand as yours. Hardly ever used them and I don´t get them to work. Have tryed everything BUT no luck.

Love your 30 day challenge. So much inspiration.

    Have a great day/Gunilla

        Hi Kathy!

        Thank you for your answer.
Have a question for you. You said to call or maybe send and email to Ranger about the pencils? Is it they who sell them?

My English is not that good. Hope you understand my question?

        Have a lovely day/Gunilla

          March 24, 2015 at 10:57 am

No problem. I think the manufacture is Ranger? Maybe the store where you purchased them from will help you? Good luck 🙂

okay i thought i was the only one who tested out pens on their hand! LOL seriously my kids grew up seeing me do that, did it too then got yelled at by teachers. (i mean if you have no paper handy to write yourself a note, why the heck not?) love the video and continue to love the challenge everyday. Thanks so much for all the inspiration.

Kathy I can’t thank you enough for creating this challenge. I’m enjoying stamping again! Not at all rushed to finish a card just enjoying the process.

BTW thanks for sharing your time and talent in making this video. Love the textured Copic background look. Going to be a must try.

I have such challenges with those Signo pens. Thanks to you, your video cleared up most of the issues I’m having.

Again, many thanks for sharing your joy of coloring. I found my inner child!

Very cool watching you play Kathy. As I have mentioned before I am not really a copic gal..I have ten markers but that’s it, that being said I STILL love watching you play and still feel that there are things to learn no matter whether someone is working in a totally different medium or project from you (I love watching people make mini books even though it’s not really my thing) I find it inspiring all the same! I really liked your nubbly rag trick! I’m thinking that I should get some colorless blender fluid! LOL Very cool. TFS

I always seem to have a problem with large backgrounds and the O blender solution on material really solves that problem. Love the texture it gives the background. The white dots and outlining always gives special detail to the project. Thanks

I am thoroughly enjoying the 30 days of coloring. I am not familiar with Copic markers, and your have helped convert me to them. And a huge thank you for today’s tip with the Signa white pen. I get so frustrated with the flow and tried your finger as a practice substrate – it works! As soon as I purchase Copic pens, I will take the OLCC your suggested. I have taken several of their classes and learned so much about stamping and die cutting – but the coloring is FUN!

    • Kathy Racoosin says

      March 24, 2015 at 10:58 am

Yay so happy it worked Lorna!

i LOVE this card- what a fabulous background & i love the bright colors! thanks for another amazing video! I was often frustrated with the white gel pens- but since i’ve slowed down & warm it up on my skin like you’ve suggested- it truly works so much better! Thank you so much for sharing all your little tips & tricks! The whole challenge is so fun & i too am trying to just do something every day with no pressure & am enjoying it so much!

What a fantastic video today, Kathy! I can’t thank you enough for the Signo tips today! I had pretty much given up being able to get a white pen to work for me, even tho I did use my finger to get it started. However, your suggestion to take your time with these pens and let the ink (Paint) flow make so much sense – and it’s working for me! Yeah!!!!

Such a simple suggestion, but it’s genius – give the pen the time it needs to work! 😀

Loving the Color challenge – can’t wait what else you have in store for us!

    • Kathy Racoosin says

Thanks for your inspiration and teaching Kathy! I had a gel pen that none of that worked for–I’m guessing it was too old (maybe 2 yrs old). So I’ve got a new one and will give that a try.

The writing on your skin thing works with my white gel pen! Love the card. I was so curious as to how to you created that background. I was so intrigued in your last post! Thanks for sharing, Kathy!

  39. Nora says

Thank you for this video. I LOVE how you did that background and it was so quick. LOVE how you colored your flowers too. I am going to have to try this. It always takes me FOREVER to color. (fun, but sometimes you want to make a “quick” card!)

I threw out all my white pens like that because I could not get them to work. I should have kept them and called the company. I tried everything I could think of except your trick. Oh well. Maybe I will try them again!!
