Tweaking patterned paper/ book mark card

Hello Friends, Are you enjoying the Olympics??  Me…I can’t get enough!
This is my second card with Simon Say’s Stamps August Card Kit and if you asked me who offers the best card kits for the best value …. I would give the gold to Simon Says Stamp!
This was my first card (note the giveaway too)
August Card Kit
I love paper and this paper pad from “My Mind’s Eye” is  so pretty with all of the color combos.  I decided to make a card with a book mark (from the tag in the card kit) and insert it behind some of the  paper that I cut out. More below on that.

This is what it looks like without the book mark. I used the stamps from the kit to decorate the “tag” For the side tags on each piece I die cut labels one from Spellbinders.

I began by cutting around the edges leaving a slight boarder. This will go front and center on my card.

Take a fine tip marker of your choice and trace around the stand out flowers and leaves.
(my choice is a fine tip Sharpie marker because it doesn’t bleed into the paper).

Now take this white gel pen and have some fun. On most of the flowers & the leaves I added dots or stitching. On the flowers center I used this and once it’s dry … add Glossy Accents on TOP of the white enamel accents.
Carefully glue your flowers on the edges only so that you have room to slip your book mark behind the flowers and you have a fun book mark card. Please email me if you have any questions.

Have a great weekend and best of luck in the games. Hugs, Kathy

Kathy this is gorgeous! I have been looking at your card for ages … at each detail, before writting this comment. Love the dots, the bookmark, the way you cut out the flower pattern. Amazing!

What an amazing transformation – it looks absolutely brilliant & so full of life when you’ve altered that paper. The red ric rac strip is lovely & I particularly like the way it matches your little rose on the tag. The vibrancy of the red really draws out the reds in the paper.

Gorgeous! Amazing! Beautiful! There aren’t enough adjectives to describe what you’ve done with Simon’s card kit. Thanks so much for the brilliant idea on what to do with those large motifs on patterned paper. Did you color the star burst stamp with markers or ink?
