March 7, 2012 •

creating lace with a spellbinder die

Hello Friends, How are you?? I love Wednesday’s because it’s the middle of the week and that means the weekend is that much closer.  Today I have another catalog card to share with this sweet Mimi image called “Mimi’s Big Day”.
I want to point out the background boarder using this die from Spellbinders called
“Lace Doily Motifs”.
Lace and weddings go hand in hand and I wanted a delicate element on this card for the 2012 catalog. To achieve this lacy look with the die cut all you need to do is:When you are removing the paper from the back of the die cut …. pop ONLY some of the pieces that you normally discard.  I added a tad of glue to some of the small pieces so they don’t pop off of my boarder. Adhere your lacy die cut boarder to your card base. Add this to the insides of the lace in random places for dimension and texture. (to the open spaces and the spaces where the small bits of glued paper is too)   I know you are going to love the look of this. On the top card you will see that I did the same thing in the corner. The image was colored with Copic markers and the papers are from Penny Black’s mix & match paper collection.

Did you happen to see this video from Cathy A? She has the best ideas.I was lucky enough to have Frederick from LiLy Pad visit my studio and travel with my family. You can see the photos on the Lily Pad Blog if you are interested.

Have you heard the buzz?? Simon Says Stamp just reveled the April card kit and it’s fantastic! So cheerful, happy and colorful!  These card kits do sell out so don’t delay if you missed the last ones. If you suscribe you save $5.00 such a great value!!
 Check it out here.
I hope the rest of your week has lots of sunny and happy days. Hugs, KathyCARD SUPPLIES:

Now that is a novel idea & it actually looks as if some of the confetti has fallen down from the image into the spaces. I like the way the lace border echoes the border on her veil too.
