Sympathy Card & a CHA tid bit

Hello!! Hello, my friends! Sorry I stranded you for so long. I think this absence was a record for me. It was so crazy before leaving for CHA I didn’t have time to prepare a post. I hope you have been checking out the Penny Black Blog?? This week they are giving away stamps so you might want to stop by and leave a comment 🙂
Sympathy card
I glued a page from a vintage book onto some card stock to give the vintage paper some strength & then stamped onto the paper. I cut apart the sections of the umbrella and distressed it before adding gluing it to my card base. The sentiment is from SRM stickers available here and soon Simons Says Stamp will be carrying them!! I know many people love shopping at Simon Says because of they have the best international rates, they pack a little surprise inside and they send you a $5.00  coupon to use on your next purchase. I also think it’s so cool how they are so environmentally friendly they way they pack their products and what they do in their warehouse.

I am showing you this photo for two reasons. The first reason it not to trash your mess ups. I positioned the airplane wrong but, decided so save it anyway and ended up using it for this card. (a nice time saver) The second reason is that I sketched some cones and balls for bushes in front of the buildings. I love this “Cityscape” stamps & reach for it often. Here is one of my favorite cards I created with this Cityscape….and this.

Look close at these “butons” I created with enamel accents.  I squeezed a nice blob of black enamel on his jacket and let it dry over night. The next day I added white enamel on top of the black. In person it’s nice and defined and realistic. This layered look also works great for eyes. I also used the enamel accents on the bears eye.

The rain was stamped with this in distress ink. I colored his jacket with Copic markers and then to apply texture I blotted with a rag and blending solution. Lots of Glossy Accents on the jacket once the blending solution dried.

Sympathy card

One of my favorite parts of CHA in the summer is the beginning of the show. I love how these bag pipers parade around playing their beautiful music. I find it so moving that I just had to share with you. I hope you are making happy memories this summer. Thanks YOU for visiting. Hugs, Kathy

I MISSED YOU, KATHY! 🙂 I knew you had to get ready for CHA, so I wasn’t worried. This card is really precious – LOVE the texture and gloss on the raincoat and the enamel buttons! AMAZING. This card reminds me of the song “I think It’s Gonna Rain Today” from the movie “Beaches” – sad but beautiful.
