September 5, 2010 •

I am thrilled to say I am now a part of the Caardvarks Design Team ……….. pinch me please

The design team at Caardvarks is a group of women who are so talented and they always been a big source of inspiration for me!! It was always a dream of mine to be on this team and to be included among these amazing ladies. Today my dream has come true and I just can’t tell you how excited I am!!

Caardvarks is sponsored by Tiffany Doodles for this challenge in combination with two sketches by Heidi Van Laar. For my cards I used this digi “stamp” here .You can’t beat the price and the versatility of these digi images.

To begin with the first flower I re-sized the width and height of the image and colored with Copic markers.( you will find the  colors below this post.)
IMG_1099
I printed the image again without changing the size. You can see I cut the large flower out from above and I will add it to the bouquet below to give one of the flowers more impact.  Did you notice the wide vase above…therefore the one flower I colored is much wider than the one below that are colored in the vase.
 IMG_1102

I love how the super large flower looks on the smaller vase. After coloring the vase I covered the entire vase with Glossy Accents so it resembles glass.
To create the yellow background I used Mustard Seed distress ink on white paper and stamped with the same ink using a small stamp to create the pattern. It was easy and quick. For the “wood table” distress a white piece of paper in walnut,  then use  Tim Holtz’s embossing folder and distressed the paper AGAIN with the walnut to add extra dimension to the embossed parts. Behind the yellow stamped paper is some blue stamped paper. I used Tumbled Glass to add  color to the paper, then stamped with Penny Black’s text background in the same color. (my new go to background…love the vintage petite font!)
Color two of the unused flower petals for leaves. I ended up cutting out entire vase with the flowers. I love how you can see the wall paper behind the vase. Layer your papers and pop dot large flower and you are finished.

I love Heidi Van Lear’s sketches so I based my second card on her sketch.  The white paper is embossed with Tim Holtz damask by Sizzix. The blue paper started out being white and I used Tumbled Glass to color it and used PB’s letter background to give it some pizzaz with a bit of Broken China and Antique Linen. Add some stitching and stamp your sentiment. I used a scrap strip of white paper and colored it with Mustard Seed (stamped with the letter background…again) and used the NEW EK punch that is amazing!! Love the big scallop. To add some white highlighting I used a white marker by Galazy and smeared immediately after coloring on the edges of the petals. Then added some of my white dots with a white gel pen. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thanks so much for visiting my blog. Hugs, Kathy

Thank you for all the details in your post today of your project it truly inspires me to try my hand at more coloring of my stamped images.

I have a quick question, why do the digi stamps have a grey tint to them sometimes when they print? Am I doing something wrong?

    Thank you in advance,

    -christine
