Win-A-Day on the Blog Contest…IT’s MY TURN

Hi Friends, Today is a BIG day and a very exciting day for me. I ‘m praying this post is scheduled properly cause we are away on Spring Break and my last post for SRM stickers I messed up. Totally forgot to finish my last post. I wanted to tell you that SRM and Cosmo Cricket teamed up and what a lucky girl I was!! A few weeks a go there was a ring at the door and it was the post man with a pizza box. Come to find out it was a Cosmo Cricket box full of yummy papers, chip board and embellies… resembling a pizza box..how cool is that. I really enjoyed working with their papers etc. I know everyone loves Cosmo Cricket and I do too. So if you missed the post please scroll down to check out the cards.

NOW BACK TO MY BIG DAY….WOO HOO

I can’t tell you how excited I am and how long I have been waiting for this day once I heard I was chosen and to be chosen by my stamping IDOL Jennifer is a huge thrill and honor plus a DREAM COME TRUE.  Thanks Jennifer for picking me to be featured on Hero Arts blog with you I can’t express how unbelievable  this is…please pinch me….I admire Jennifer in so many ways…card making and card drives are just two of the many… what a ROCK STAR YOU ARE! Here is HERO ARTS Blog  so you can see how my cards inspired Jennifer (I hope) and what she created. I know it will be AMAZING cause what Jennifer touches turns to magic. While you are at it here is  Jennifer’s blog . Also as most of you know Hero Arts has been featuring amazing ladies all week that I really admire so I hope if you haven’t seen their amazing and unbelievable cards please check them out on the Hero Arts Blog. It’s pretty difficult to follow all of their cards this week. I comfort myself by saying that we all have different styles and I can’t wait to get home and comment on all of there absolutely creative  and beautiful cards and the Hero Arts ARTISTS too!!!!! Just jaw dropping !! Below is the list as featured on the HA blog this week.

Monday: Vanessa Menhorn (vanessa.1978) and Nancy
Tuesday: Tracey Kuzniak (trace44) and Sally
Wednesday: Maria “Fika” Evelina (juicyflavor) and Lisa
Thursday: Jenn Biederman (scrapperjjb) and Shari
Friday: Alice Wertz (Aliceh83) and Tami
and it’s Saturday: Kathy Racoosin (crzy4stamps-Kathy) and Jennifer!!!!!!!

Now for the cards 🙂

DIRECTIONS:  “Flower Power”

I used my Cuttlebug to cut the circle in my white and pink card stock. I stamped the flowers many times. To make the smaller flowers I cut them from INSIDE  the large flower and then all there is to do is enjoy and color. Add white dots with a gel pen to add some more detail and arrange around the circle you cut out. Adding pop dots to some of the flowers gives it some nice pop.

White Gel Pen

DIRECTIONS: “Live Richly”

I love this big mug and wanted to created some “fine china” cups that I like to collect. To create these I stamped the image two times. Cut the images into sections as seen below.

The body of the mug I retraced on white card stock and then stamped my pattern on the new plain mug. To give my mug a realistic look and lots of dimension (see photo#2)

I placed the image I traced on top of the other mug to create a pocket by slightly bending the paper mugs. You can put a tea bag here for a gift!! Now is a good time to color the tea or coffee and apply your Glossy Accents so you have plenty of dry time. If you are making two mugs when you are cutting the image cut off the handle and glue to the other side so the handles bump each other. To create the background I stamped random images on strips of paper and pieced them all together using Hero Hues paper and coordinating inks and sewed them with a machine. The lace doily is cut from the Nestabilities ovals and then I pierced them with a needle. I find a needle is really sharp so it goes quickly.

I couldn’t decide which photo so I’m showing them both 🙂

DIRECTIONS: “Home Sweet Home”
First check out the stamp set this image is from…see how tiny it is…I just had to have it larger.

I loved this tiny house so I wanted to enlarge it with my scanner and that wasn’t working. Fortunately I have a projector so I stamped the image on a transparency, placed it on my projector and enlarged it to desired size. (the overall size is 4″x5″)
See photo 1…

I  loosely drew the enlarged image, cut the image into different pieces (photo #2)

then traced the cut pieces with a ruler to get some nice straight lines (photo #3)

Now I was set to have some fun. I have some Tim Holtz grunge paper so I retraced my new straight images onto the grunge board and cut them out and painted everything except the dormer white. I added texture by stamping the door with wood grain and the body of the house I put though my Cuttlebug. Color was added with distress inks as seen in the list of supplies. A little sanding in random places gave the house some more character and I glued it all down with Glossy Accents. For behind the windows I traced the outline of the house and drew where the windows would go. Added some scraps of stamped paper to serve as wall papers in the window squares that I just drew. Added lace to the back windows on the house. I  I added pop dots to the back of the house and placed on the outline of the house with the wallpaper. This gave the windows a realistic appearance and lots of depth so the “drapes” have space.

Thank you in advance for taking the time to leave me a comment on my big day. I can’t tell you how much all this means and it’s truly a thrill.  Only you all know what a great day this is and such an honor. My family and friends don’t quite understand…and I think you may know what I mean right? Like Jennifer McGuire…she’s a ROCK STAR! Have a great weekend and a Happy Easter!
Thanks to you again Jennifer for making this day so special and choosing me…..and thanks to all my flickr and blogger friends for your constant support and inspiration. I wouldn’t be where I am today if it wasn’t for you all ! Thanks …thanks…thanks and many hugs!!
Kathy
