Video w/ A Quick Holiday Card, Blog Hop & Giveaway

Hello Friends! Welcome to Simon Says Stamps holiday kick-off and Making Spirits Bright product release blog hop.!! It’s always an honor to participate with this inspiring bunch of ladies plus Simon always has awesome giveaways!! I had such fun creating my cards with these versatile products that I think you will love too.

To start at the beginning of the hop go to the Simon Says Stamp blog and if you are coming from Anna-Karin blog you are in the right place.

You can check out the full release here!! Sequins! Stencils! Beautiful Die Cuts! Envelopes! Frames! Stamps! Coloring Cards! OH MY!! Let’s get started shall we.

Using some of the different elements of the new release was really fun to create my three cards for the hop & I was pleased how easily the cards came together.

The “Stained Glass Greetings” stamps & die cuts give your cards an artistic edge that is unique and refreshing. The “Center Cut Kaleidoscope” is my kinda thing! LOVE! Who can’t resist this sweet deer called, “Picture Book Deer” ohhh the possibilities.

If you want to watch the video in HD click here.  If you want to subscribe to my channel that would be awesome.

Next time I will give the deer a bright red nose to resemble Rudolph or tie a bow with a ball on his antler!

The background on my card is one of those must have stamps that can be used as a background or take center stage on the front of your card. It’s called, “Center Cut Kaleidoscope” and it’s sooo fun to color. Stained Glass Greetings gives the sentiments that extra pop with a graphic twist.

Adding those little extra details is my favorite thing to do. I used this must have super fine tip marker to the add eyelashes, the lines on the deers scarf & the tiny lines on the letters. Don’t forget to cut some fringes on the end of the scarf for some extra texture.

To soften the background on my card I added a piece of vellum so the deer & sentiment would stand.

I stamped the cut Kaleidoscope twice with some grey ink so I could color it again for my second card but, in a more bold way adding doodles and dots.  The “Stained Glass Greetings” are easy to color or to go for that simple look with some embossing on vellum.

The “Pine Needle Trio” was scribble colored with a copic marker .. then I decided to use a distress ink re-inker to give the needles more color on the tips with a brush. A quick dry with the heat gun before I bundled them with twine.

https://www.thedailymarker.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/temp_ripl.mp4

The twine was custom colored with a marker and I used a white gel pen to add white dots. A layer of vellum was placed on top of the background.

One more card was a must because I had to color these fun lights and the lil bird from the stamp set called, “Merry & Bright“. For the background this stencil was used. I forgot to give both snow banks a little blue color on the edges with a marker.

If I had more time I would have added two or three coats of glossy accents to the lights. The twine was colored with a marker & glued on the back of the lights with glossy accents.

It would be fun to cut & glue half of a paper clip to the top part of the light & and a twine bow to each light. So many fun options!

Oh, wow, Kathy! I don’t know where to begin as each of your projects is AMAZING! I adored the deer with his cute harlequin scarf and the vellum overlay. Then I was blown away by the amazing technicolor kaleidoscope background with the pine leaves. The white makes everything POP! But, no, you weren’t quite done yet as you pulled out the big guns – the twirly lights! I fell hard for that card – how did you achieve that look? I absolutely adore that card. It is my favorite out of every other project I have seen with this release. I would love to purchase that card from you because it is so inspiring and captures my love of all the lights at Christmastime.

I think I have that kaleidoscope stamp but I haven’t had the chance to use it yet or at least I have something like it. I really do love how it looks on both cards and I might have to think about using mine for Christmas cards. I like the branch on the card too.
