DAY 2. blog hop-discount codes

challenge_graphic-June-650

Hello Friends! Welcome to DAY 2 of The 30 Day Coloring Challenge. I am so excited to bring you a Blog Hop featuring the talented artists, guest artists & friends that taught in OCC’s Copic Class for Card Makers. I know that each designer will wow you today with their talent … that was my plan to give you all a huge hit of inspiration for day 2.

Not only will you get inspired but, today I have some special coupon code from OnLine Card Classes & a sweet giveaway at the bottom of my post! To start at the beginning of the hop click here.

IMG_5273

Typically I work with bright colors so today I was going for something out of the box with this floral stamp from Penny Black called, “Divine” It’s a super easy stamp to color especially if you are going for the “no line” look. The sentiment is from Simon Says Stamp and inked up in “Fog Grey” to complete the softer look on my card. (not an easy feat for me)

To watch the video in HD click here or in case you might want to subscribe to my You Tube Channel  click here 🙂

Go here to read more about the 30 Day Coloring Challenge and if you want to share what your creating go to Day 1 and scroll to the bottom of the post. You will find a blue Inlinkz tab to link up your coloring.

Stunning creation, Kathy. Wish I had time right now to watch the video and visit your OCC friends. The Copics class is awesome, even if you own a different brand of alcohol markers, but I’m starting to believe that Copics are in a league of their own, especially since they offer ultra light hues.

Loved the No line tutorial Kathy! TFS You’re flowers turned out GORGEOUS!!
The copic class is one of the few I have not taken over at OCC, because I think I had ten copics at the time, I have since bought some Spectrum Noirs (dark Set) which I have not played with since it is spring/summer and I’m not in that frame of mind. I always regretted not taking the class though….I have a feeling it would have set me up for buying a few copics to build a small stash effectively. 😀
    oh and Hello! 😀

    • Kathy Racoosin says

      June 4, 2015 at 2:06 pm

I hope you win one of the 3 spots I’m giving away for the OCC Copics. You can always purchase and take any of their previous classes. That’s the beauty of these classes. Once you purchase a class you always have access. You can even download the classes on your IPad and take them anywhere.

Thanks for this almost mixed media tutorial with Copics, Kathy. It’s been really informtive for me. I was surprised to see that you color over colored pencils with your Copics. I always thought this would contaminate the markers!?

    • Kathy Racoosin says

      June 4, 2015 at 2:15 pm

When I use Copics and colored pencils I haven’t had a problem. It’s not something I do all the time and it’s usually a small area. Please cautious with any Distress product. 🙂

Then I saw this tip so I went out and bought a fresh new one to give it a whirl, guess what? SAME THING! OMGosh what am I Doing WRONG?

    • Kathy Racoosin says

      Pat,
I’m sorry your white gel pens are giving you a hard time. I do think it is the pen and not you. I haven’t had a problem getting the white gel pen to work they way I showed it on the video. Take the pen back and see if they’ll let you test it before you leave the store. Sorry but please have fun for you. 🙂

Beautiful card!! I tried to do the gray outline with copies one time but it didn’t turn out so well. I’m certain it was because it was on watercolor paper. The lines didn’t blend out too well. I’ll have to try it again on typical copic paper. Thanks for a beautiful card and a wonderful video and a fun giveaway!!

    • Kathy Racoosin says

      June 4, 2015 at 7:18 pm

Robin, You will have success on copic paper especially if you use a light gray and a medium gray plus your blender. Sometimes it might take several layers till the colors soften to your liking. This step is worth it. It helps your image pop and have dimension. Have fun.

I had an appointment the other day and I always take my journal and/or coloring tools. My cab driver seen them and asked about them can you believe I think she was way younger than me and she had the nerve to say that she thought she was too old to color.
I just about died. Not to mention after that comment I didn’t want to tip her. Haha. Yes of course I did. Next time I’ll hand her a box of crayons for a tip and let her know your never too old to enjoy coloring a good image or two.

Thanks for sharing your beautiful card. I have been thinking of buying the Penny Black stamp for some time and now I know I REALLY need IT!!! I do have a question for you. I had read or heard that you should not use a copic after you had colored with a colored pencil because it could ruin your copic marker. Is that a false statement because yours was beautiful.

    • Kathy Racoosin says

      June 4, 2015 at 8:26 pm

I haven’t had any trouble with copics and colored pencils.I did small areas on this card. If I did larger areas I would do copic first than add pencil where I wanted to shade or highlight. I wouldn’t do anything distress with copics.

Hi! I’ve never tried no line colouring. Guess there’s no time the present to try it out now. Thanks for making the process so clear and easy to follow.

Thank you for providing inspiration to arts & craft lovers! I just discovered your blog today because of the blog hop from Kristina Werner’s blog. I just recently purchased a few Copic markers & am very interested in learning to use them correctly, especially for card making. Thanks again & keep up the hard work!

I absolutely love your coloring challenges. I do try to get something in the works every day, but sometimes I drop the ball. The soft colors of your card are so beautifully done. I keep trying the no line look, but never quite succeed. I need to practice more. Thanks for a great blog and the chance to win.

    GORGEOUS!!!
Copics are on my “one-day” list, I have so much to learn about stamping, watercolour pencils & distress inks before I move on to them => please don’t include me in the giveaway.

I love this video and how lucky for me that I have this stamp….I will give it a try with the Spun Sugar ink…have that, too. I’m learning so much by watching what and how you color. TFS
