Day 1. Coloring Book Card

this oneHello Friends. Welcome to DAY ONE of “The Daily Marker 30 Day Coloring Challenge” ! I’m super excited to have you join me in my love of coloring. If your new to the challenge or have any questions about the coloring challenge you can refer to this post and see my getting started video here.

To get this party started, I’m sharing two cards…

IMG_3491

Adult coloring books are so popular right now, so I created a card using one of the pages I colored…

FullSizeRender

I created a video so you can watch the whole process…If you like it a thumbs up is always appreciated. If you don’t want to miss any of my videos you can subscribe here to my channel.

Watch the video in HD here.

I used just a portion of the page in my mini coloring book, but you could create several backgrounds from one page in a regular sized coloring book.

IMG_3489

I colored the panel using Copic Markers and added white highlights with a gel pen. The “Smile” die really makes my card pop. (For $5.99 it’s a great value too…win win.)

IMG_3483

I made sure to place a piece of white cardstock behind the coloring page while I was coloring to “catch” all of the coloring bleeding through. I used that panel to create a second card…

IMG_3497

I just love the graphic feel it gives and I sure do hope you like it 🙂

IMG_3488

I finished off the card by adding a few sequins and stamping the “Labeled Messages” on to scraps of colored cardstock so the color peeks through. I just love how the second card was pulled together with such little effort.

IMG_3484

Fortunately ”The 30 Day Coloring Challenge” has grown since the first coloring challenge because of YOU. If you want to share the logo (at the top of the post) when writing your blog post or on Facebook etc. that would be lovely.

WHEN YOU ARE LINKING UP TO MY BLOG to share your coloring it will always be on todays post…DAY 1. each day I will link you back here to share your coloring. The link up tool is at the very bottom of this post.

Thanks for your enthusiasm for the challenge and I hope you know that I am just as excited as you are. Have a great day and see you tomorrow for a blog hop. Hugs, Kathy

I’m so excited that the challenge has started! You know me, I color a lot and now I have an excuse to colorer 30 days! I also really have an excuse to color for 30 days because I broke the a bone in my foot! I was on a stool trying to reach something on a top shelf (I’m 4’7″ so everything is up high for me) and my foot slipped. The side of my left foot and wacked the side of the stool, then that foot hit my left leg and the right foot hit my left leg. I hung onto the shelf so I didn’t fall and crack my head on the concrete floor or the stove. Tomorrow I have to call an Orthopedic doctor to make an appointment to see him. I’m also a caregiver for my parents so I need to be on my feet a lot. My mom has bad knees and now she has to do more for us then she had to before.
Okay, enough about me. Now let’s talk about you and your wonderful cards that you made. You’re coloring is amazing! I love how you got 2 cards out of one. Who knew you could do that? I’ve noticed in my coloring books the colors come through on the back of the page but not onto the next picture, which is a good thing.
Thanks for listening. I’m so happy the coloring challenge has started. Now that a bone in my foot is broken and I have to keep off of it, I have more time to color. I went outside to color in the sunshine. It was glorious!

Gorgeous cards, Kathy!! Love them both. You know, I look and look at those coloring books and pass them by because they are too big. I’d rather make a card than color a page. But I might enjoy a smaller one and use bits to make cards? Maybe. LOL. Thanks for the twist on coloring books. And I love the bleed through too! Brilliant.
