R.S.V.P. Decorated Card for STAMPtember exclusive

Hello Friends, How is your week going so far? Yesterday I had a short post sharing some coloring with markers and pencils. For today’s post I am doing the exact same technique for this Simon Say Stamp STAMPtember exclusive stamp set with Studio Katia.

This was like a gift from heaven and so perfect to decorate my response card. Love this stamp set.! With that said I only work with stamps that I love.

If you want to see other response cards I have done in the past you can see here, here , here and here .

I have been decorating  response cards forever! This particular r.s.v.p. card was late so I didn’t color all the flowers PLUS I was thinking about that “Consider the Trash Factor” (One of my top ten coloring tips) There is a chance this could go in the trash once the recipient opens it … so for that reason I was NOT as invested in coloring the entire image.

If you use only pencils I suggest adding a light layer of color first with a marker. Adding a first layer of color with a marker saves you so much time! The Copic color E50 is one of those must have colors. You can see the warm glow come through on the flower in the center.

A sharp pencil is a must if you want to color with a series of lines only. I resharpen my pencil many times for each petal or leaf. In this photo you can see how I used green and brown lines from the top of the petals down toward the center of the flower. IF your pencil is SHARP this technique works really well. If you pencil is NOT sharp it doesn’t look nearly as good in my opinion. I have a few more tips on the Power Poppy blog here.

I will be back tomorrow for another exclusive stamp set that was a little step out of my comfort zone. Have a great day! Hugs, Kathy

Absolutely beautiful! I love your tip on keeping your pencils sharp! Can you recommend a sharpener? I sharpen my colored pencils and often the tip snaps off just as they are sharp…maybe I am doing something wrong and it is not really the sharper?

love the petals, the detail, of your pink flower. The central spots…reminds me of a fungus so, not so much. But you know I adore your work!
