Hello Welcome to the the Altenew March 2018 Stamp/Die Release Blog Hop. I am delighted to be participating today and a warm welcome to you.

To start at the beginning of the hop click here. If you are coming from Erum Tasneem blog you are in the right place. Ahhh Erum is so talented!!

My cards have always been on the larger size so when I saw this large succulent called, “Mega Succulent” it was love at first sight. The second I put my watercolored succulent in a frame it magically looked cool.
I documented the process for both of my watercolored succulents and I was able to chisel about 2 hours of video into 10 minutes or so!!!

Framing something with a sentiment makes it even more meaningful. I popped the “we’re so happy for you” with some foam tape and it still fit into the frame behind the glass.

A few layers of distress ink did the trick. Interesting how this collection of random colors worked to give the succulent interest and debth.

It’s been a busy month and I have been gone the last two weekends and prepping to leave Friday for for my Road Trip this weekend to St. Louis … super excited to meet some of you that are able to come. I took Altenew’s new die cut called, “Peg Board Canvas” on my trip to Michigan and I am so glad I had something to do with my hands the plane ride.

It’s not often I use ink to color flowers and I will tell you it’s sooo fun. These layering flowers are from the new stamp set called, “Hope” These flowers are on the larger scale ..yes please! I was going for a monochromatic look but, decided to add some grey blossoms to my card panel. You can find the matching die cut here.

Even if you like stitching or cross stitching this might be intimidating for a card but, if you do it my way it’s super fun and so doable. When I ran the die through some of the dots didn’t cut so that was my perfect opportunity to pop random patterns to stitch up. After my stitching I put tape on the back to secure any dots from popping off once my card was finished. Adding foam tape to the back of the stitched panel gave my card dimension.

Don’t forget I said I LOVED this succulent so I had to make another card with a part of the image for this watercolored card.

Embossing part of the sentiment with white powder and popping it with foam tape added a bit of dimension on my card. Since this worked for my framed piece why not do the same thing for this card.

I thought I was being fancy by using three inks but, I soon realized it’s not necessary and it’s not noticeable lol.

March 26, 2018 at 3:10 pmJust beautiful, as always, Kathy. I’m so impressed that you made the red work in the succulent. I would have gotten scared with green already down that there would just be a bunch of mud, but it’s very beautiful and vibrant. And I LOVE the abstract stitching behind the flowers. That is gorgeous, I might need to do something very similar very soon. The CASE is real! Thanks for sharing your talents with us!

March 28, 2018 at 10:49 pmYou have a ton of comments, girl! Wow!
I love those green flower cards. They look like a plant I used to have in my house. They were fat like that and very green, just like your cards. They look real but I know they aren’t.
I love your blue flowered card with the cross stitching on it. In my Home Ec. class in the early 70’s, we had to learn embroidery and cross stitching as a grade. My mom did it before she was married I found out and she taught me. I got an A and have been hooked ever since. That’s what I love about those cross stitch stamps. They look like you did a whole bunch of cross stitching with thread and a needle and you didn’t! I want that stamp when I win.
That’s for showing us your colorful cards and for giving us the chance to win something.
