Hello! How are you? Welcome to Day 2 of The Daily Marker 30 Day Coloring Challenge. Today is the FIRST day of a THREE DAY blog hop that I am super excited about. We have been working on this three day hop for weeks. Most of you have heard me talk about community and what a beautiful thing that can be. If you share on Instagram you know what I am talking about. The coloring challenge is my idea but, I had no idea about the community that would evolve. Today & the next two days I want to feature some of the people that have helped make this community happen with their love and support to the challenge AND spreading their love on Instagram. It’s because of them the 30 day coloring challenge has turned into such a happy & beautiful community. 🙂
If you don’t go on Instagram I am hoping that you get that community feel on the new Facebook closed group. Give it some time and take a little time to poke around and leave some love.

The hop isn’t about me today so I am going to keep my post short and sweet. Yesterday I mentioned that I had another video using the same dotted background. Here is today’s video. Supplies will be listed at the bottom of my post.

I hope i can keep up with all the colouring. I surely won’t be able to make a card each day. I colour to destress and having to make a card also won’t help that. Love your mix of blues in your card and there’s that great background you made!

Gorgeous shaker card Kathy, I love how you added all the beautiful details to each individual stamped circle it really adds so much to the design, I love those little eyelash lines especially! I want to thank you for this challenge, I came upon it the other day by way of Jen McGuire’s IG, and I was a bit nervous joining in, as I just took my first coloring class in June, and bought a few markers and gamosol because of it. I’ve only played now twice, (today will be my third) but because of this I will get to play and learn as I color more. And hopefully, my Christmas cards will turn out beautiful, since I would have all this practice!

Great card! Enjoy the different things you did with the same mask. as for the video length vs split video, I prefer one long video to a split video. If I am short one time I will go to the end of the video I am watching irregardless of the length and then stop and often forget to go back if the re is a part 2

I have followed along with all your coloring challenges, but this is the first one I’ve actually taken up markers for. As I said before, I have a long way to go, evidenced by all the small details you always add that make a wonderful image absolutely fabulous. At this point, I consider it a success to stay in the lines! Thank goodness the World Series is going to game 7 tonight. It means I’ll get in some more coloring while watching. The shaker card is a grand slam home run. 😉

Such a fun shaker, and a perfect pattern to colour without too much stress lol. Instead of hopping to the next in line, I’m going to spend 10 minutes colouring. Yesterdy, I coloured a purple chrysanthemum using my new Copics and tonight I’m going for autumn yellows and oranges.

Wow! I love the background for your shaker. I promise to keep practicing! Over the last few months I have invested in Tombows, Zigs, spectrum Noirs and some pencils. This coloring is giving me a chance to familiarize myself with the different mediums. Thank you

I love this challenge–it reminds me to take some time each day to do something creative that I enjoy; I don’t always manage the time to do it but I like that it keeps it on my radar!

I was successful Tuesday ….unfortunately some creepy bug has invaded my body and I ache all over and couldn’t pick up a coloring tool to save my life. Perhaps tomorrow the bug will have left and moved into another host body. Not looking for sympathy, plain honestly here.

Colored out in a park today, since I was working. Put everything together at home last night!! Realized later that I came back from lunch with ink on my ARM!!! No one told me! LOL!! Share the love….ink!

Hi Kathy! I just saw the “dotted background shaker card” video. It is beautiful! You have such amazing control over your coloring tools whether Copics, gel pens or super fine Sharpies. My hand jumps some times. So I am now adding little groups of dots in the background when I go out of the lines. I love how you keep reminding us ” It doesn’t have to be perfect.”
I colored 10 minutes the first day, and an hour and a half last night! I am using a 5×7″ coloring book of just flowers and unique designs. I still haven’t finished one page yet! Lol
I have a question. My husband keeps saying, “You know if you colored the background a solid color…your coloring would really POP!” (Isn’t that cute, my 70 year-young husband speaking in coloring/crafty terms! He will be coloring with me before you know it! I digress. I apologize. I just thought you’d appreciate this Accountant using your words he over- hears from your videos!
My QUESTION …I am using regular colored pencils for this page in every color i own! I can not cut out all of the pieces and mount them on black paper. That would take me a week! When using a black colored pencil for a background, do you have any tips? Start in center and work out, start on corners and work in, use diagonal lines or circles…or start to outline each piece until I can’t continue and keep going around the next shape? These are teeny shapes, but the page is full mostly. I want it to look like a solid background…not like scribble lines from a child with a crayon. Not on this piece!

Your shaker is gorgeous, Kathy! I’m a bit behind in the challenge already! But I hope to get back on track! I’ve only coloured for a few minutes on two days (it’s Day 3 now) but I haven’t linked anything yet. I just completed the blog hop and was amazed at all the talented crafters out there! I enjoyed seeing the different colouring mediums too!
