The 30 Day Coloring Challenge

challenge_graphic-June-650

Hello Friends, Guess what happens two days from now? June 1st is my second 30 Day Coloring Challenge. Your enthusiasm and creative energy encouraged me to do it again! Thank YOU!  If you missed the 1st 30 Day Coloring Challenge… Welcome to the fun. We all deserve to do something for ourselves each and every day. So leave your stress behind and let’s get ready  🙂

See the video here in HD to see my essential supplies and why.

Last time I shared this video below. I will organizing my supplies the same way this time except I will substitute my watercolor pencils for the Zig watercolor markers. (They are much more vibrant).

Having everything at your fingertips will keep you inspired. The challenge is for you to color (any medium of your choosing) and be open to experimenting but most of all to have fun without any expectations or pressure. Take days to finish a card or just color. 30 days of color therapy and entertainment is coming to you. Are you ready to join me again? Let the fun begin.

Incase you might have a few questions read below my essentials. See you June first! Hugs, Kathy

InLinkz.com

CAN YOU PARTICIPATE IN MY 30 DAY CHALLENGE?: Wow that would be awesome if you want to participate & feel free to jump in at anytime during the 30 days! Everyone is welcome!

COLOR EVERYDAY? WHAT!  The idea is to color something everyday even if it’s for five minutes. Just five minutes that’s it. Some days you will have more time and that’s even better. It’s just about adding more time to color and carve out a little time for something that makes you happy.

THERE ARE A FEW WAYS TO SHARE:  You can share your work where you are most comfortable like Facebook, Instagram, Flicker, your Blog etc. If you use this hashtag #thedailymarker30day2 I can find your work or you can link with the Inlinkz tool on Day One on my blog. Please don’t NOT use INLINKZ if you are sharing on Instagram. (Instagram is the easiest for me to comment on your art work.)

WILL THERE BE PRIZES? YES! I will be working with several different companies throughout the 30 days for some super fun giveaways.  Randomly I personally will be giving away some goodies too.

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM ME: I will be posting on my blog daily and on Instagram daily. SOME DAYS I might make a one layer card & some days I might just color an image. There will be days I will use my watercolor sketch book (a must have) to draw or paint and somedays if something is more complex I will come back to it the next day. There will be watercoloring with different mediums and I will be using all kinds of different markers such as Sharpies, Bic markers and Copics.

THE GOAL IS:  To color something everyday no matter what happening. (I know that I am happier when I am coloring even if it’s for 10 minutes.) I also want to show you that you can use inexpensive supplies to create something pretty. Hopefully together along the way we will all stretch our creativity a little bit more.

ANY QUESTIONS: If you have a question please leave a comment and I will answer the question in the comment area.

I hope you are as excited as I am and I am beyond thrilled that you might consider playing along. (as I mentioned feel free to jump in and out of the 30 days if that makes you more comfortable). Thanks!!Kathy

I greatly enjoyed your first coloring challenge, this time I believe I’m more prepared.
I’ve printed some images that I like, have some stamps ready to stano and plan to play with a variety of mediums and papers to see what I can come up with. This challenge gives me “permission” to play with a ton of different stuff and experiment. Thanks Kathy!

I’m so looking forward to this second 30 day colouring challenge, Kathy. I hope I’ll be colouring even more than last time. In fact, I created a card today using a stamp, set I had not used before, creating a random scene and colouring the images using promarkers I still had lying on the table. I just went with it and I love the result. I think the first colouring challenge really helped me to just dive in today (and telling myself it’s only paper). Now that’s what I call progress LOL. Have a wonderful weekend!

Hi Kathy. I am looking forward to this 30 day challenge! I don’t have many yet but I managed to get 9 Copics to play with for this challenge. I thought it would be a great opportunity to learn to use them during this time. (Surely over a 30 day period I can learn a little about how to use them???) I have some images already stamped off on reg. CS for using with other mediums and some things in a small travel size water colour book. I can’t wait to start. Thanks so much for your hard work in organizing this!

Hi Kathy, dropping in via Sandy Allnock’s blog! This whole year is a coloring challenge for me. I haven’t really colored since elementary school, believe it or not! I always thought I sucked at artistic things. Now here I am in my early 40s, and I finally realized it’s not that I suck, I’m just a perfectionist so I spend a lot of time doing very little in my effort for it to be perfect. So my new challenge is to just let go and “DO!” I’ve also started sketching and doodling, which is an absolute first for me!

I’ve shared your 30-day coloring challenge on my little blog, so hopefully you will get some new visitors via me too. 🙂

  32. Tammy Hershberger says

    June 1, 2015 at 7:24 pm

I was so bummed to not find out about this last time until mid-month, so I’m determined to participate this time even though the coming 5 days are completely crazy in my life, with my daughters graduation party coming up on Saturday! I WILL make time to color something every day! 🙂 Thanks for the inspiration and fun!

    • Kathy Racoosin says

      June 1, 2015 at 11:23 pm

No worries. You really don’t need to be prepared. All you need to do is relax for 5 minutes, take a deep breath and color for a few. That’s pretty much it 🙂

  39. Sandy S. says

    June 2, 2015 at 6:22 pm

My world has been rocked by Shari Carroll’s colored pencil technique on the blog hop. (For some reason, I’ve not been able to post a comment on her site.) I use both pencils and markers, but for me it’s always been markers with embossing powder, pencils with plain stamped images. Her card is so incredibly stunning that I have to try it. I did notice that she keeps her pencils really sharp…maybe that’s the secret. Also, I used to pencil-color on colored card stock, but had kind of forgotten how wonderful it looks. Oh, boy!

Hi Kathy – I just found your blog through Simon Says Stamp today. I’d love to jump in and even signed up for your newsletter – this will be a great way to give me a little “me” time without taking hours and hours this month. I have copics and prisma pencils so will be using those to start. One quick question though – if I share on insta and use your hashtag, will you (or anyone else) be able to see what I made if I am private? Either way, I’m going to give this a try.

    Thanks-
    Maria

I had 2 shots of the tiny little card but I just put up one. i’m going back to learn about filtering the photos. i’m computer challenged, so please let me know if I do something wrong or something that makes your life harder. i’m so excited! can I do 2 cards for today and will they count for day 1? or could I just change the hashtag to say day 1? sorry to bother you.
